Strike Back below!
by: Dave Davis Nov. 30, 2007

It's still a long wait until Zack Snyder's currently filming adaptation of WATCHMEN hits screens, so there's not a lot of official material just yet. But how does what's out there stack up to the seminal comic series on which the movie is based?

Wonder no more, courtesy of Maxim magazine -- not just your leading source of almost-naked B-list female celebs. They've done comparisons between the street set photos and panels from the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons book. A few aesthetic updates aside, so far it looks like Snyder's set design captures the tone. Clicky and decide for yourself.

Extra Tidbit: To celebrate its 100th issue, Maxim magazine spread a 110 foot cover image of Eva Longoria on the Las Vegas desert -- big enough to be seen from space (or at least Google Earth).

This graphic novel is so huge. It plays with so many important themes, I wonder how it will translate to the big screen.

But if Snyder gets it right...this movie will be great! Cant wait to see Dr. Manhattan walking on the surface of Mars!

Impressive
It took me two reads to fully appreciate how amazing the graphic novel really is. Pure perfection really. Although Im not a fan of 300, Snyder did stay close to the source material, so Im pretty optimistic that he'll knock this out of the park. And if it does, it could top SIN CITY as my favorite graphic novel/comic adaptation ever.

Wow, impressive. With the exception of the Gunga Diner, it all is pretty much a match.
