Watchmen website

Jul. 25, 2008by:
Just in case Mike's report from Comic Con wasn't enough for ya, the official site for WATCHMEN has sprung to life on the data tubes as a small consolation to those would couldn't make it to San Diego.

In addition to the trailer unleashed last week, the site hosts a journal, behind-the-scenes videos, photos and other things to make you anticipate next March that much more.

Watchmen

Extra Tidbit: When the movie hits screens next year, the security people keeping an eye out for bootleg video makers will be... those who watch those who watch the WATCHMEN.

WHoa!

Totally thought I posted.
But what I was to post was about the origin of the mask. And it was quite amply done already. Damn.

@ Burgerking re:Rorsharch's mask

His mask is not "supernatural", but it does literally shift colors. The following is from wikipedia, but it does accurately describe the origin of his mask from the comic. Possibly you never actually read the book or have poor reading comprehension skills?

"In 1962 he grew fascinated by a new fabric made possible through technologies developed by Doctor Manhattan. Two viscous liquids, one black and one white, between two layers of latex, continually shifted in response to heat and pressure,

"In 1962 he grew fascinated by a new fabric made possible through technologies developed by Doctor Manhattan. Two viscous liquids, one black and one white, between two layers of latex, continually shifted in response to heat and pressure, forming symmetrical patterns like a Rorschach inkblot test while never mixing to produce a grey colour. Kovacs learned of the fabric when a young woman chose not to buy a dress which she had ordered made from it; subsequently Kovacs took the dress home and experimented with the fabric. He learned to cut the fabric and maintain the seal using heated scissors."

Everything I've seen so far from this film points to complete adherence to the comic. Let's hope that it translates well to the screen and keeps the tone and soul as well as the pretty details.

im sorry

rorsharch's mask doesn't have supernatural powers. Yes, it changes in the book but I always considered that to just represent the mystery and ambiguity of his character, not literally having a mask that changes. So seeing it literally change in the movie makes me SIGH in disappointment. I would have rather just seen it be different in different scenes, or not change at all.
