Watchmen's Matthew Goode in talks to join Chan-wook Park's Stoker

06.09.2011

Chan-wook Park's English-language debut STOKER continues to creep ever closer. The latest from Variety states that Matthew Goode (WATCHMEN) is in talks to take the male lead role in the Korean filmmaker's non-vampire film.

Goode, once a contender for the role of Superman and Bilbo Baggins, has crawled atop a good number of other potential leads, with guys like Colin Firth, James Franco, and Michael Fassbender having been previously linked to the role. The story is about "a teenage girl who, while mourning the death of her father, must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle." Goode would play the uncle, while young actress Mia Wasikowska is already on board to take on the role of the teenage girl. Nicole Kidman is also in the mix as the girl's mother.

STOKER, produced by Tony and Ridley Scott, comes from a script written by "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller. Goode will next be seen in the film BURNING MAN from director Jonathan Teplitzky.
