Wayne Kramer in talks to take over Kane and Lynch

KANE AND LYNCH has been a puzzle to me ever since I heard about it. Of all the video games to make movies out of, why pick one that hardly anyone has heard of or liked? I guess the answer would be, someone already wrote a story for it, and now you just have to throw in some actors and shoot in the thing.

Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx have been set to star for a while now, and the film was supposed to be directed by stunt coordinator Simon Crane. But according to Latino Review, things weren’t working out with Crane, and the studio wanted to bring in LAW ABIDING CITIZEN’s F. Gary Gray, who said no thanks, and that’s led to them to Wayne Kramer, who you might remember directing RUNNING SCARED a few years back.

I thought RUNNING SCARED was a lot better than it could have been, but it still came off like kind of an American knock-off version of SNATCH to me in the end. Putting him in charge of KANE AND LYNCH, where a mercenary teams up with a murderer could seem like a good fit, but this whole movie just seems oddly conceived to me. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Extra Tidbit: I still can’t believe how they just threw the original Lynch out the window (top right) and brought in Jamie Foxx.
