WB President Jeff Robinov promises news regarding what DC characters will be getting movies in the next few weeks

Apr. 11, 2013by: Alex Maidy

With MAN OF STEEL gracing the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, most are focusing on the new images of Superman and the cast of re-imagined characters in Zack Snyder's film. I completely understand as the images are quite something. But, accompanying those photos is a very interesting story featuring quotes from Warner Bros. President Jeff Robinov who discusses what MAN OF STEEL will allow them to do with all of the DC characters they have at their disposal.

Robinov told this to Entertainment Weekly:

Well announce something in the next several weeks that will hopefully position the DC characters and the movies were going to be making,

We all knew that MAN OF STEEL was going to be the gauge for the next DC movies and it sounds like WB has a lot of confidence in the direction Snyder, screenwriter David Goyer and producer Christopher Nolan are taking Superman. Specifically, MAN OF STEEL will be the creation of the world that can hold all of these heroes.

I think youll see that, going forward, anything can live in this world, he said. [Nolans] Batman was deliberately and smartly positioned as a stand-alone. The world they lived in was very isolated without any knowledge of any other superheroes. What Zack and Chris have done with this film is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world.

I am thinking that MAN OF STEEL is going to introduce at least one other superhero for another DC franchise. It could be the new Batman as the article clearly states that Nolan's DARK KNIGHT trilogy will not be tied in with the world in MAN OF STEEL. Or, it could be that those rumors of Charlie Hunnam as The Flash. Maybe even Wonder Woman. All that we know is that very soon we will be learning where WB is taking DC on the big screen. It may not be JUSTICE LEAGUE, but at least they are working towards something from the ground up.

MAN OF STEEL opens on June 14, 2013.

Finally putting the total kibosh on any notion that the Dark Knight trilogy is in any way connected to Man of Steel. Good. Alfred has his closure.

GREAT NEWS!

I've said before they should go Man of Steel, Flash, Wonder Woman then Justice League, use Reynolds for GL and there really is no need to introduce Batman again, we know who he is, with the Hunnam news and now this it looks like WB/DC realised rushing a JL movie is a bad idea, I'll take credit for showing them the error they almost made, even though i know they arent listening to someone like me

If read and interpreted properly, one would notice that ROBINOV is actually confirming that they are using NOLAN'S BATMAN and that UNIVERSE. He states that there was no knowledge of other Super Heroes, not that there weren't any. And then he goes on to say "What Zack and Chris have done with this film (MANOF STEEL) is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world. (THE DARK KNIGHT)”. That's how MARVEL began PHASE ONE. They introduced a grounded in reality Heroe and

you have to separate the comments, when he says the same world hes talking about the world that they built for superman, it just came out yesterday or the day before from the DC pres that Nolan has nothing to do with Justice League. On one hand it sucks cuz those movies were so great, but on the other hand rebooting him allows for them to add on to Batman, to introduce Robin and (keeping my fingers crossed) do maybe a death in the family story line, get knightwing on the big screen and some

Hopefully it's a confirmation of a writer/cast for Guillermo del Toro's Justice League Dark.

DC just needs to take their time and churn out good films. What they dont need to do is to make fast project trying to play catch up with Marvel. Cant wait to see what they have planned. Still really hoping Justice League Dark comes to fruitation as well.

Nope

This is Warners/DC trying to cash in on Marvel's homegrown and well constructed battle plan.

This is being done for all of the wrong reasons, and whilst I'm sure that Man of Steel will be a fine movie, I'd much rather Warners/DC prove that they can actually construct a decent superhero movie that isn't Bats/Supes before even thinking of tying them all together for the Justice League. There is no creative yearning in this movie, it's simply a studio responding to a someone elses perfectly

Dude...their all in it for the money....Give it a break already....so was Marvel. If the money wasn't their for either one of those companys there would be no films at all. Its not like Marvel reinvented the wheel or something man. They just made a tie in of all those characters in different movies. What else do you do to create a universe as big as DC's??? Please tell me? It's like your trying to tell DC they should learn to walk without using their legs cause Marvels already done that. Just

DC characters are in all our guts and we all just want a collection of films that they all can live in...UNPEACEFULLY!! lol

I'm ok with more DC movies, but I'm really hoping Man of Steel is the first part of a stand-alone trilogy like Batman Begins rather than an intro to Justice League.

Flash

This is GREAT NEWS!! 1st The Justice League and JL Unlimited both on Netflix and now this!! I just don't know about Charlie Hunnam as the Flash?? He's just not witty and funny like the Flash is. It's just too bad that R.Reynolds was a big missed opportunity there for The Flash...big time.

follow the Marvel formula, and you're nothing more than a follower.

DC/Warner Bros should do it backwards. make the Justice League movie first as an intro, then the solo films as sequels/prequels. i recommend using the Tower of Babel/JL: Doom story line. its sooo good (wiki it if u aren't familiar). You can have an established JL that is recruiting Batman. Batman is the only "human" so he will be the connection to the audience as they're introduced to the super powered world. Batman develops strategies to take out each member of the JL using some kind of character weakness that harks back to their own individual origins. that way you can have small origin flashbacks of each JL member and get to know their characters well. then, whichever characters are the most popular in the JL movie can get their own solo film.

As long as it's not....

Please no Wonder Woman! We've had enough films based on comics that just don't translate to the big screen, Wonder Woman is one of those. Leave her to the inked page and small screen of the 70's, don't waste your money WB!!!

any comic movie done right can translate to the big screen, just look at captain america running around in a red white and blue suit, the ones that havent worked were really the people who wrote the scrpits fault (green lantern, daredevil ect) she NEEDS to be done, and she is a huge part of the justice league, the movie really couldnt be done without her, it just wouldnt be right, i mean i guess you could leave her out of the first one (,maybe) like marvel did with antman and wasp, but

It's possible to do a good Wonder Woman story; just look at the animated film that came out a couple of years ago. I've said a few times now that Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and the right actress would make for a great WW movie.
