WB's original Space Jam website is a blast from the past!

12.30.2010

News has been slow these final days of the year, but here's something kind of fun...

Soon it will be 2011. That's crazy. Instead of saying "two thousand and eleven", we'll likely be saying it "twenty eleven". Maybe it's just me, but every time I hear it like that, I think "Man, that's some sci-fi shit right there!" And if we look at how the internet has progressed over the last couple of decades, it's pretty amazing and almost sci-fi-ish in and of itself. What websites can do now is stunning compared to that of the mid-90s. What will they be doing in another ten years, I wonder.

But before you think forward, why not think backwards? Thanks to the curiosity of BuzzFeed co-founder Jonah Peretti (via Twitter), it's been discovered that Warner Bros. has left the official website for their 1996 live-action/animated hybrid SPACE JAM almost completely in tact! Seriously, it looks like it was made using GeoCities (and I'm talking about way before they got snatched up by Yahoo!). It's very cool and kind of hilarious. A sort of internet time capsule, really.

Check it out RIGHT HERE!

Thanks to my boy "Lewkuh" for the heads up!

Really funny thing is that you can go to archive.org and go to the way back machine and check out websites from the very beginning. This Space Jam website looks exactly like The Grateful Deads website Dead.net. Check it out

I like that in the 'News' section it says "No Spacejam news at the moment!"

It's nice taking a look back at the past. I saw "Space Jam", in theaters and loved it. Loved the fact that Bill Murray was in it and Newman.

Oh My God! I visited the site like hundred years ago. It seems that long time to me. In the day and age of iPhone, Flash, super uber computer, this website is very retro. Somehow I thought of my assignment for creating my own website for my computer class (Angel-Fire, Geocity, anyone?). This is definitely one trip down the memory lane. How can this website still exist? I think it's lost in space.

Wow, and to think a 5 year old web designer now would think these were bad now. Crazy!
It's fun to see stuff like this, makes me want to take these trips in another 10 years. Wonder what Joblow will look like then, I,m hopping for some Johnny Mnemonic or some Minority Report stuff Jo. Don't let me down!

I like to dig up old websites every now and then... Titanic's website from 97 is still up and pretty much untouched... [link] (if you just type titanicmovie.com, it'll take you to the fox website rather than the Titanic site)
