Web promos for Gore Verbinski’s Cure for Wellness say we’re all sick

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

You ever look at something and wonder “Is this an ad for a movie or a perfume commercial?” No? Oh, well then this will be a first.

A new web promo for Gore Verbinski’s A CURE FOR WELLNESS act like an advertisement for our lives, as an ominous narration over a montage of images informs us we live our lives for material possession, and that this “sickness” has a cure. The first teaser trailer will hit later this week, so consider this a warm up. There’s not that much to go on in terms of plot or a look at the cast (which includes Dane DeHaan and Jason Isaacs), but the immensely intriguing footage left me wondering what the hell I just watched and how can I get more of it. On top of that, an additional video shows the “cures” of water, offering a peaceful, meditative, yet somewhat creepy hint at what else is to come.

Try not to have your mind f@cked too hard below!

Was I right, or was I right? Though it runs like a political ad there’s something almost sinister going on between the two images. As a history of movies tells us nothing good comes out of people try to “cure” others, it can be deduced that whatever comes from this project will be more than what meets the eye above. I feel like I need a bath after watching this.

Speaking of baths, here's the other promo, which is a water meditation that I would probably die from before completing.

A CURE FOR WELLNESS opens on February 17, 2017.
