Ralph breaks the bank!

Disney's hammer-fisted Wreck-It Ralph returned to theaters this weekend with smashing success as RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET opened in first place at the box office with an estimated $55.6 million!

Compared to previous Thanksgiving weekend releases from Disney/Pixar, RALPH's three-day figure is ahead of last year's COCO ($50.8 million) and the $48.7 million debut of TANGLED in 2011, and fairly close to TOY STORY 2 ($57.3 million in 1999) and MOANA ($56.6 million in 2016). The record-setting $67.3 million first weekend of FROZEN in 2013 remains untouched.

The $175 million animated sequel starring John C. Reilly's videogame brute and his diminutive princess friend Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) has racked up $84.4 million since it opened on Wednesday.

The PG-rated follow-up with Ralph discovering/causing chaos on the world wide web has also collected $41.5 million from international audiences, for a global total of $125.9 million so far.

Most critics were glad to see the big lovable lunk busting things on the big screen again, giving the movie an average of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. Pound your way over to the JoBlo review HERE.

Swinging in second place was CREED II with an opening of $35.2 million for the weekend.

In addition to defeating the $29.6 million opening of the original CREED in 2015, the boxing drama scored the highest three-day Thanksgiving weekend opening for a live-action movie, fighting past the $34.4 million start of ENCHANTED in 2007.

The PG-13 sequel, with Michael B. Jordan facing the son of Balboa's ROCKY IV Russian rival Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), has punched up an impressive $55.8 million since it entered the ring on Wednesday.

The ROCKY spinoff, with Tessa Thompson and champ Sylvester Stallone (who co-wrote the script) again joining the titular Apollo offspring, cost a reported $50 million.

The majority of critics cheered the latest addition to the sports franchise, giving the sequel an 82% average on Rotten Tomatoes. You can hit the JoBlo reviews HERE and HERE.

Dr. Seuss' dastardly Christmas crook THE GRINCH was in third place with $30.2 million, an unsurprisingly strong performance for a Thanksgiving weekend.

The PG-rated Illumination Animation update of the holiday heist has a domestic total of $180.4 million and $215.7 million worldwide, on a reported $75 million cost.

Last weekend's winner FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD dropped to fourth place with $29.6 million, losing 52% of business from its opening.

The $200 million Harry Potter / "Wizarding World" sequel has a ten-day domestic total of $117.1 million, but is casting a spell around the world with a global total of $439.7 million.

In fifth place was the PG-13 music drama BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY with $13.8 million, bringing the Freddy Mercury-focused Queen biopic to $152 million domestic and a rockin' $472 million worldwide (on a reported cost of $52 million).

The PG-13 comedy INSTANT FAMILY was in sixth place with $12.5 million, down by only 13% from its opening last weekend. The Mark Wahlberg / Rose Byrne foster-kid adoption story has a ten-day domestic total of $35.7 million on a reported cost of $48 million.

Opening in seventh place was the new version of ROBIN HOOD with $9.1 million for the weekend, notching $14.2 million domestic since its Wednesday start.

The latest depiction of the medieval folklore hero was no match for the $36 million opening of Russell Crowe and filmmaker Ridley Scott's ROBIN HOOD rendition in 2010, nor was it a quarterstaff length away from the $25.6 million start of the Kevin Costner-fronted ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES back in 1991.

The PG-13 period action-thriller, with KINGSMAN star Taron Egerton and colleague Jamie Foxx against Nottingham sheriff Ben Mendelsohn, reportedly cost around $100 million.

The stylized update of the legendary archer completely missed the mark with critics, who gave it an average of 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. You can take aim at the JoBlo review HERE.

In eighth place was director Steve McQueen's R-rated thriller WIDOWS with $7.9 million, knocked by 35% from its opening last weekend. The $42 million drama, with Viola Davis leading a group of women in criminal activity, has a ten-day domestic total of $25.5 million and a worldwide total of $38.6 million.

Driving into ninth place was the Viggo Mortensen / Mahershala Ali drama GREEN BOOK with $5.4 million after expanding from its limited release premiere last weekend. Director Peter Farrelly's fact-based period road trip now has a domestic total of $7.8 million (it cost a reported $23 million).

The Bradley Cooper / Lady Gaga romance A STAR IS BORN was still in the Top 10 after two months, hanging on at the bottom with $3 million for the weekend. The R-rated remake has a domestic total of $191 million and $353 million worldwide, on a reported cost of $36 million.

Outside the chart, Disney's Christmas fairy tale THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS didn't even make it through the Thanksgiving holiday. The WWII horror movie OVERLORD, Lisbeth Salander thriller THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB and Tiffany Haddish comedy NOBODY'S FOOL also fell out of sight.

In limited release, the new Queen Anne drama THE FAVOURITE made a remarkable $105k per-screen, the highest average of 2018 so far. Featuring Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone, the R-rated period story from director Yorgos Lanthimos (THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER) also received a terrific response from critics with a 95% average on Rotten Tomatoes.

And Tom Hardy's toothy vigilante VENOM has really been sticking around at the global box office with $822 million, now passing worldwide totals of other Marvel comic adaptations DEADPOOL ($783 million), Sam Raimi's original SPIDER-MAN ($821 million) and its sequel SPIDER-MAN 2 ($783 million), not to mention the Distinguished Competition's SUICIDE SQUAD ($746 million) and WONDER WOMAN ($821 million).

Next weekend lets the Thanksgiving releases continue to duke it out, with horror movie THE POSSESSION OF HANNAH GRACE as the only new wide release.
