Werner Herzog goes against Tom Cruise as the villain in One Shot

Well, this is an awesome surprise.

It looks like director Werner Herzog will get out of the helmer’s seat to get in on the action. Herzog is playing the villain in the adaptation of Lee Child’s ONE SHOT.

There were no comments on exactly why Herzog was chosen other than the fact that screenwriter on the project Christopher McQuarrie wanted to work with him. Herzog will play, “The Zec, an ex-prisoner of war who arranges and stages the killing and is the head of the conspiracy.”

This is Herzog’s first actual on-screen acting role. He has made several cameos and even lent his voice to the character of Walter Hotenhoffer on an episode of THE SIMPSONS. What’s funny is that initally he thought that the show was a newspaper comic so he was surprised when he was asked to voice a character.

For those of you just tuning in to all things ONE SHOT news, Cruise is playing Jack Reacher who, “investigates the case of a sniper accused of murdering five people before being captured.”
