This is a rather funny little behind the scenes feature from HitFix which details how Wes Anderson acted out every scene himself as a model for the animators for THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX. Like literally, if you see a character doing something onscreen, Anderson was filmed running around in the studio, his house or outside doing the exact same thing first.

It speaks to the fact that essentially, Anderson and his crew were making up how to film this entire movie as they went along, as nothing like this had really been tried before. It’s stop motion approached from a perspective of live-action, and it’s interesting to see the process behind the film. Check it out below.

Extra Tidbit: Yeah, I can see how production on this might have been hell.

I've been off and on about this, but the reviews are incredible on metacritic and it IS Wes Andersen. So, now I just gotta see it.

DUNNO....
Something about this film makes me think it would creep little kids out. I guess maybe because it creeps me out for some reason...

Yeah I can see where you're coming from with the whole creepy thing. This would scare the crap out of me if I was a little kid.

When I saw Bill Murray on Letterman the other night, they showed a clip of this. I honestly thought the whole thing was just a Late Night joke skit. Sadly, it's not. This flick looks like amateur trash. Then again, it is Wes Anderson, and he's made nothing but trash, so it just goes.

Every type of animation has been using live aciton reference sicne the dawn of time. The director doing it is a bit odd.

Loved that movie.
