Wesley Snipes emerges to battle aliens in this trailer for The Recall

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Damn, dude! Simon says that Wesley Snipes looks fantastic for a 54-year-old badass. Honestly, I don't think I've seen him act in anything since the 2004 release of BLADE: TRINITY. That being said, Snipes has been keeping himself busy while appearing in some under-the-radar flicks like THE MARKSMAN, THE DETONATOR, THE CONTRACTOR, and HARD LUCK. Beyond that, he's also lent his talents to films like GAME OF DEATH, BROOKLYN'S FINEST, THE EXPENDABLES 3, and has starred as Mr. Johnson in the TV series THE PLAYER.

Today, it appears as if Snipes is indulging himself in a little sci-fi thriller for Barco Escape's THE RECALL, a film which centers on a group of friends vacationing at a remote cabin lake house when aliens attack Earth. Charlie (Jedidah Goodacre) and his friends Brendan (R.J. Mitte), Annie (Laura Bilgeri), Rob (Niko Pepaj), and Kara (Hannah Rose May) are forced to rely on an eccentric and mysterious hunter (Wesley Snipes) with special knowledge of the attack, explaining this day has been prophesied for years.

You can check out the trailer for THE RECALL by watching the video posted below:

Minds Eye Entertainment produced The Recall in association with Bridgegate Pictures Corp, VMI Worldwide and Invico Capital Corporation. North American distribution is with Freestyle Releasing and international distribution is with VMI Worldwide. Additionally, not only does the movie have Wesley Snipes going for it, THE RECALL will also premiere June 2nd, 2017 via Barco Escape’s panoramic, multi-screen theaters across North America. The official press release also states that THE RECALL is breaking new ground for immersive cinema experiences as the first movie shot natively for Barco Escape to release in theaters.

But wait, there's more! As part of the film's premiere,  Minds Eye in association with SkyVR will also preview THE RECALL’s universe with Abduction, a 12-minute Virtual Reality short featuring Snipes that brings audiences into an alien invasion through the eyes of co-star R.J. Mitte’s (BREAKING BAD) character. Following the VR release and a two-week exclusive theatrical window in Barco Escape, THE RECALL will open in select 2D theaters.

Mmm, man, I don't know. as cool as this VR tie-in business sounds, I can't help but feel like Snipes is overdue for a proper comeback. That man is a bonafide ass-kicker who is more than capable of once again leading a big-budget action blowout of his own. Furthermore, whatever happened to there being plans to make a fourth BLADE film? You know, the one where Blade fathers a child and then has to teach them the ways of combating the underworld? I want to see that Wesley Snipes film! That being said, THE RECALL looks to scratch that teenagers-in-the-woods itch in more ways than one with its outlandish premise and unique theatrical rollout. Here's hoping that it hits big with the audience it's looking to please.

THE RECALL will be released first in select Barco Escape theaters in the U.S. along with the virtual reality short film THE RECALL: ABDUCTION on June 2, 2017.

Then, the film will be release, again, on June 16, 2017 in select 2D theaters as well as VOD services.
