What a shocker, The Walking Dead has been renewed for a seventh season

10.30.2015

As AMC isn't comprised of a bunch of idiots and The Walking Dead is still proving to be a ratings juggernaut, it should come as no surprise that they've decided to renew The Walking Dead for a seventh season. As long as the show, which is only three episodes in to its sixth season, continues to throw plenty of zombie mayhem at its record breaking audience, I'm fairly certain that this won't be the last Walking Dead renewal post we'll be making. Also renewed was the Chris Hardwick hosted The Talking Dead.

AMC president Charlie Collier:

Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals. When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible. The result: More Walking and Talking. Hooray.

This Sunday brings another new episode of The Walking Dead, which will hopefully reveal the fate of a certain character whose fortunes weren't looking so good at the end of the last episode. Also set to air on Sunday during The Walking Dead will be the first teaser for Preacher, so keep an eye out for that!

With the show soon to have seven years under its belt, would you prefer that AMC set an end-date for the series or are you happy to have it continue on for many more years?

I like this show, each season has managed to keep me engaged. I definitely get people's hate for the show, some episodes can be uneven. And there have been some story arcs that just didn't land. But if you look at the show as a whole over 5+ seasons, it's been an entertaining ride.

That being said. I hope they'll start planting the seeds for the eventual end of this series soon. Maybe not in season 7, but definitely by season 8. Too much of a good thing can sometimes ruin it. Over

That being said. I hope they'll start planting the seeds for the eventual end of this series soon. Maybe not in season 7, but definitely by season 8. Too much of a good thing can sometimes ruin it. Over this story arc and when they get into Negan, I'm not sure where else to take this but to it's eventual end. Even if that takes place over 2 or 3 seasons. But they're going to have 4-5 story arcs where the group goes up against another evil/tyrannical force by the end of season 6 (maybe 7). They'll have Governor(x2), Terminus Cannibals, Wolves, and Negan. I think by that point the show will have said all it can say about keeping your humanity and not becoming evil during the apocalypse. By that time, all that's left is to start approaching the light at the end of the tunnel.

This show should have only been 6 episodes a season. It would have made it such a tight, exciting show. Every season feels like there's barely any story stretched onto 16 episodes.

Would be nice if AMC also decided to give the show a bigger budget boost. Except for pretty amazing make up work the show too often looks really cheaply produced - especially if you keep in mind this is currently the most succesfull TV drama in the world. But comparing it to the prestige dramas of other cable and pay TV networks like American Horror Story, House of Cards, Game of Thrones or Penny Dreadful it becomes very obvious that neither sets, cgi effects, writing or the cast are nowhere on

And AMC has a history of beeing greedy and cheap with their premium shows.

This is such a badly written show. It started off good but became more stupid and boring every season.

It has become a slow rinse and repeat formula. I am no longer a fan.Stir things up or just end this show with a good ending.

Well until Preacher, the network doesn't really having anything else to offer.
