What Chris Evans thinks about his Captain America costume

We haven't heard a whole hell of a lot from Chris Evans since he landed the gig of his career as Captain America a few weeks ago. But recently he spoke to Empire about one of the most talked about aspects of the role: the costume.

What’s his opinion on the get-up, which we’ve only seen in concept art so far?

"It’s an amazing costume. Given the fact that his costume is red, white and blue, and it’s tight, and it could be kind of flash and over the top – and given the fact that the movie takes place in the ‘40s and ‘50s – they’ve done a really good job of making it look really cool."

"I think everyone that’s going to see it is going to say, 'Okay, well done. Well done. I think they got the costume right. The casting they completely ruined, but the costume they nailed!'"

Haaa, funny guy.

He says it’s quite a bit bulkier than his FANTASTIC FOUR outfit, but that thing was like a scuba suit so that’s to be expected. And what about the crown jewel of the costume, the shield?

“We’ve been testing a lot of shields. Last time I was in London they had six shields and I had to hold each one, see if I was comfortable with each one, see which one we all thought had the right look. The thing is pretty heavy, so I’m not sure I can throw it that far! I’ll give it my best shot, but hopefully they’ll have some sort of stunt shield when it comes to actually chucking it!”

Evans is reportedly playing a lot of ultimate frisbee to train for shield combat. Just kidding, but how exactly do you train for shield fighting anyway? I’m very curious to see how the hell those fight scenes are going to look, and I would assume the shield would be CGI when it’s zipping around knocking Nazi’s heads off.

Extra Tidbit: Now if they were smart, this would be a perfect time to release a shot of him actually IN costume to ramp up buzz even further.
