What did you think of…Ant-Man and The Wasp?

SPOILER WARNING! DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS if you haven't seen the movie yet. If you have and want to discuss some of the details of the film, that's fine, but BE RESPECTFUL about it. If you're going to just post the spoiler itself with no commentary then you're trolling and we will ban your IP and e-mail address and perform voodoo magic on your soul.

After the colossal emotional blow that was AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, may are welcoming a little respite from the darker side of Marvel and what could be more of a palate cleanser than another film with the criminal-turned-hero Ant-Man, this time joined by his (now) partner The Wasp in, you guessed it, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP! Paul Rudd returns to the character of Scott Lang/Ant-Man, the wise-cracking break-in artist that struggles with being a father as well as a hero, while Evangeline Lilly returns as the daughter of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas, who also returns here), Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp. Director Peyton Reed is at the helm again (this time not picking up the pieces from Edgar Wright's famous exit from the first film) and has the film packed with new and returning characters, including Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava/Ghost, Lawrence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, as well as Michael Pena as the fast-talking Luis (as well as crew that features T.I. and David Dastmalchian).

So far, reviews for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP have been good, with some critics jumping on the hyperbole train and calling it the "best Marvel movie ever" (as they do with every new Marvel movie). Still, there's something to be said for ol' Marvel. Even at this not-so-greatest they're still delivering solid entertainment. It's a well-oiled machine that sometimes pumps out better product than others, but always good product. Our own Chris Bumbray gave the film a 7/10 in his review, saying, "While there are tons of fun set pieces, there’s arguably less in the way of all-out action, which makes it seem like Marvel is gearing this one more towards a family audience." That doesn't sound like a terrible thing, I guess, especially if you had to explain to your youngsters what happened to Spider-Man and Black Panther at the end of INFINITY WAR.

And with that, now it's your turn! We want to hear what YOU thought of the film! Naturally, we'd prefer you to comment only if you've seen the film as that's the point here, but do what feels good. Just don't get mad if you get trounced for trolling or posting blatant spoilers in headlines. Healthy debate, genuine thoughts, and respectful interactions is all we ask. Is this the palate cleanser you were looking for after INFINITY WAR or is this just a speed-bump along the way to the heavier stuff?
