strictly average or even bad,boring

to me,Dredd sucked.i went with some expectations hoping to watch a good action film, but iam totally disappointed.its hollywood version of 'The Raid:Redemption'.instead of martial arts, they used hi-fi artillery, weapons.just gave a futuristic dystopian touch to it,which doesnt hav purpose.Dredd costume is like Robocop, and his sidekick girl looked like japanese manga video game girl.only good thing is the ultra-slow motion shots with its music.this film also gave me Deja vu of District 9,B13,Die

I loved it!

Definitely my second favorite film of the year. Not only was it a non-stop action thrill ride packed with gore, but it was very strong in terms of characterization, the cinematography was gorgeous, the soundtrack was bitchin', and all of the performances were top notch. An all around great flick.

Fantastic!

While there were a few things I had issues with, those issues are mostly small. The movie overall was great fun with a fantastic visual flair and pacing.

Awesome!

Honestly, I found this to be better than The Avengers. Yup, I said it. Then again, I was a fan of Judge Dredd comics long before I read any of The Avengers. This was how an R-Rated Dredd was supposed to be. Violent, some mild sarcasm, and an unforgiving view of a dystopian world where all Dredd cares about is The Law.Fuck Sylvester Stallone! Fuck him right in the ear for his shitty version!

Fantastic

I loved this movie!! It was exactly what I thought it would be, fun. They definitely didn't shy away from the blood, gore and violence. Karl Urban was excellent as Dredd. Probably won't be no. 1, 2 or even 3 on Monday and that's a shame.

Badass. Enjoyed it for the action and pace. Karl Urban owned it, Olivia Thirlby makes a fine sidekick and Lena Headey plays a great villain.

I mostly liked it, it was good but not as brilliant as I was hoping. I think I may have gotten my expectations a little too high. There are issues with the pacing, and the film drags itself out considerably, leading up to what can be considered a lackluster climax. That said though, the filmmakers have nailed the look, atmosphere and feel of the film, and Karl Urban is absolutely fantastic as Dredd, absolutely the right choice and infinitely better than Stallone was in the part. Olivia Thirlby

Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey were both very welcome female presences, and Thirlby especially surprised me as a really good Judge Anderson. Looking forward to even more from this world now that the cinematic foundations of Mega-City One have been laid!

Awesome !!!!

a real bad-ass ultraviolent sci-fi movie, hope to see a sequel with a larger scale to explore this universe !! the only downside was the 3d, this is the first 3d movie that I see where the 3d was anoying (maybe a calibration problem with the projector !?) !

Thank you Karl Urban

Caught it today with my Dredd 3D glasses and finally Hollywood is paying attention to giving comic characters big screen justice (haha no pun intended). Between Dredd, Dark Knight and The Avengers it truly has been a banner year for the genre and as a quasi-fanboy, I couldn't be happier. If Hollywood can just keep this up, I think the future is quite bright and I'll continue to patronize.

The movie itself had a great balance of ultraviolence, humor and a sense of capturing the realism of the Dredd universe. Just enough tech and only the violence was over-the-top. Just the right length but you know a movie is this good when it leaves you wanting more. Cannot wait for the sequel and I'd like to see this as franchise. I can see Urban taking this character very far and there is always the cursed earth which has a ton in it as well.

Really enjoyed Dredd. I won't say it was a perfect portrayal of the character - Judge Dredd could've been more of a sadistic jerk, and Megacity 1 could've been a bit crazier, but it was still a really cool portrayal that didn't pull too many punches. A quality violent action movie.

Fantastic

Dredd was terrific. As a fan of the comics during the Eagle/Quality days, the movie really played out like an issue of the comics. Urban had it nailed. He friggin looked like Dredd up close. This movie went so right in as many ways thats the Stallone movie went completely wrong. Didnt see it in 3D, but can see where it could be even more fun in 3D. I'll definetely see it again

Wasn't a Dredd movie

It was a guy in a Dredd costume, were there any other characters from the comics in this? It just got boring after a while, as they did a poor job of pacing the movie. It wasn't awful but it wasn't great. It could have been about any other characters and not based on Dredd though so it fails as a adaptation.

Haven't seen the movie yet so I can't say what I think of it, BUT Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby's character) is a character in the comics, and she actually became so prominent they gave her her own series.

Awesome

There are honestly a lot of great things about this film. One thing I'm annoyed about is that reviews and such about Alex Garland writing the script and how when he name is mentioned, people always refer him as the writer of Sunshine and 28 Days Later....can someone for once at least mention him as the author of 'The Beach'??? I mean, that is a fantastic novel, epic in a way. Oh well. But yes, Karl Urban was fantastic, some really good dead-pan moments, Thirlby is cute as ever and I just loved

I was skeptical just like most when it was announced a new Dredd film was up and coming, though I must say hearing about how 'uber-violent' is was, I thought it could of been a tad more violent and gory. I'm desensitized from a lot of shit, I know. And even though this started pre-production and filming before The Raid (can we drop the 'Redemption' please, it's lame how the Yank's wanted that added) in Indo, people are going to compared...yes The Raid has awesome fight scenes, dull and shit acting in between, Dredd I felt carried itself along far better.

Loved it

Great movie all around. I loved this world. I think it could have had more of a back story for this world that they created, but over all I thought it was pretty great. To bad it didn't do that good in the box office.

Awesome movie. Fittingly violent and I loved the atmosphere. Despite taking place in one location for most of the film, it felt like a microcosm of society at large. I thought Karl Urban did a great job of personifying Dredd and really brought the character to life as he should be, unlike Stallone whose celebrity overshadowed the character. Olivia was cute in the role, but I was never truly convinced that she fit as a judge, even when trying to be badass. Overall, very entertaining.
