What did you think of...Jurassic World?

06.13.2015

It's been 14 years since we last set foot on the islands of JURASSIC PARK and now it's time to make our return. The only question is; was it worth the wait? Director Steven Spielberg wowed us with 1993's adaptation of author Michael Crichton's novel, creating a summer movie that stands the test of time to this day. Then game the mediocre THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK, which left most of the original cast in the dust, minus the always welcome Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and failed to achieve the wonder of the original. Then, we were subjected to JURASSIC PARK III, which brought back Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and replaced Spielberg with Joe Johnston in possibly the most loathed film of the series. It's taken a long time to find the right people to bring back the Jurassic madness, but somehow life, uh, found a way and the series has been brought back to life, much like the film's subjects with JURASSIC WORLD.

Director Colin Trevorrow (SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED), an indie filmmaker with a true passion for the project was brought on board to steer the project and a strong cast was built, including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Jake Johnson, BD Wong, Judy Greer, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, and Brian Tee. While the trained dinos and genetically modified Indominus Rex had some folks in an uproar, the trailers have done more than enough to show the potential of what John Hammond's dream come true could mean...both the good and the bad. Reviews so far have been mixed, but tend to fall higher than lower. Our own Eric Walkuski gave it 5/10, while Chris Bumbray gave it 7/10, citing that even for all its flaws the film is still a lot of fun. We also celebrated the return of the series with a special edition of our Awesome Art column and Dinner and a Movie!

My honest reaction for the most part was..."eh". We need to go ahead and admit that there will never be a dino movie that recreates the magic of the first one. "World" was a bit forgettable to me. Chris Pratt and DBH did not bring their best stuff to this project which is sad to say b/c I love them both. The failure of their leads made it hard for me to invest. In "Park" the characters brought a lot of heart to the film. Their development, specifically Alan Grant, was fun to watch. It felt like DBH was a rip off of Grant's character by having no time for children, only to warm up to them through the movie. Honestly, in real life her character would have worried more about the children b/c she was afraid of liability, not a broken heart. She was selfish.

Chris Pratt was nothing more than the stereotypical alpha male superhero. He knew everything, he could do everything, and he was completely fearless in the process. I thought his character could have used some humanity to make him relatable.

SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS (Do not read on)
Then there is the dinosaur fight. Oh my gosh! I know that people ate it up b/c I could tell the theater's reaction was a positive one, but that was just cheesy. IND-Rex vs. T-Rex-awesome idea. IND-Rex vs. T-Rex and Raptor definitely riding the line of cheese. IND-Rex vs. T-Rex, Raptor, and the Mosasaurus, this movie just became utterly ridiculous! I will admit that it was cool at face value, but it betrays what made the originals so thrilling, that all the dinosaurs are the danger.

I guess it is clear that I didn't love the movie. To me it is just a middle of the road film, that you will probably not want to watch again in 10 years. You may forget about its existence in 5.

Bad writing. Some bad CG at times. Score wasn't anything special, Forgettable characters. Cliche writing.

Why would I like the movie?

So, that ending....

We are supposed to believe that the crisis was averted because they now have a T Rex and a raptor running loose instead of the test tube bad dinosaur?? I'm not sure that's much better. I also really enjoyed watching Pratt shoot a lever action rifle repeatedly without once cycling the action. And why did they all stand around watching the dinos fight ten feet away instead of running away? A ton of plot holes, but it was okay for something to do for two hours. It does not warrant repeat

The kids were terribly annoying, and the adults keep making dumber and dumber decisions. Chris Pratt fills the role of the alpha male a bit too perfect. The only average guy we can relate to in the movie is Jake Johnson, who doesn't get a lot to do other than staring at the neon screen and throw in meta commentaries about the movie's central theme. But I didn't say that the movie was not fun, and the last fight was pretty sweet.

I had alot of fun, and that's all I was expecting out of this. The action was great, Indominus Rex was well done, although they could've used it's camouflaging feature more than once for another jumpy "whoa" moment. And I have to say, the trained raptors won me over. I was 100% against it leading up to seeing it, but dang it if I wasn't rooting for Blue at the end. And the final action sequence was great with a nice surprise that I thought was pretty cool. I'm a Chris Pratt and Bryce

I'm a Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard fan, and while there were cheesy lines, they were likeable and the rest of the cast was good too.

My one major beef was the CGI. I know it isn't going away, and the CGI was really good, but it never felt real. This film can never be compared to the original, but in terms of effects I think it is fair. I watched JP again last week, and there's just something about the mixture of animatronics, computer effects, the cinematography, and the subtlety of showing just enough that makes the dinosaurs in the original look freaking real, especially the T-Rex and the Raptors. It just never felt completely real in Jurassic World. And I just can't get over that. Maybe it is a testament to how mind-blowingly awesome the original is, but JW mostly never made me believe there were really dinosaurs on the screen. The only times it really made me believe were when the raptors heads were in the muzzles, and when Owen was holding the head of the Brachiosauras as it was dying (and i'm pretty sure both of those were animatronics with CGI enhancements). But again this was an entertaining summer action movie and I'm glad it is blowing up the box office.

Awesome, I loved it. The best Jurassic movie since the first one (anyway I like the others too). Even when there's a lot of cgi, the action never missed the point. I hate when you can't see what`s happening during a fight, but this never was a problem here (hello Avengers!). 8.5/10

There were some things that bothered me, but overall, it was really entertaining and fun. Not a work of art, but something I could watch again. The last dinosaur fight was a little bit funny to me. However, this is how I also felt with Jurassic Park 3. Whatever, it happened, I liked it.

2.5 out of 5

For better or worse, the 2nd best Jurassic movie. Visually it looked gorgeous. The first shot of the island reminded me of seeing the first film 20 years ago. Sadly the CGI looked worse than the original. Maybe I am just so used to CGI now that I am spoiled. The plot was... riddled with plot holes Enough with the "kids have a sudden ability" until 5 seconds before they need the ability deus ex machina. In the first it was computer science. Now it is auto mechanics. Bryce Dallas Howard was

Now it is auto mechanics. Bryce Dallas Howard was wasted, but at least she can run around an island chased by dinos... in heels. Chris Pratt was the man again. Thank god they repeatedly shot him so the sun was directly behind him, keeping him in a dark, mysterious shadow. People who still worship the original will love it. People like me who don't believe the original has aged that well will probably be middle of the road. It was a true summer popcorn flick, ala Transformers,

How was Bryce Dallas Howard wasted? She seemed to play a competent corporate manager as a fish out of water when in the wilds of the jungle pretty well.

Oh no, cartoons!!!

There was never a moment where I believed the dinosaurs were anything other than CGI cartoons. Besides the dying Apatosaur, there were no practical dino's, and it felt that way.
Couple of good sequences, but overall it was pretty bland. And Bryce Dallas Howard is not good. Like, at all.

Dismayed with the scene where they first enter the park and the gates open. Instead we were treated with a 2 second shot, almost looking cgi with those 2 annoying kids. Lots of thowback references about the first JP movie, which I really liked. Omar Sy and Vincent D'Onofrio had little work to do which is a waste of good talent. The movie was like 50% humans talking and 50% dinosaur action and to me that was a little bit disappointing. But overall, it's a good movie.

It was decent in the beginning, then things fell apart quickly.
As a blockbuster summer movie, it was ok. As a movie meant to be part of the Jurassic Park franchise, it was terrible. Tried so hard to be like the first movie, but it ended up just the same as the third. 4/10

As bad as Grant thinking a raptor is talking to him? Or as a cellphone still working after being digested and pooped out? Or a 12 year old surviving a month alone in the island? Or two paint sellers posing as millionaires getting to convince two idiot paleontologists to go to the island? Yeah, no.

@ Valdeths

Everything you just said, yes! The film had a SyFy quality plot, complete with SyFy's go to cliche of pointless hybrid monsters created for military use, which is far worse than anything in JP3! I would have expected a Jurassic Park film to have a better plot than Sharktopus.

Yep, and the only way to stop an I-Rex is a raptor riding a T-Rex. I half-expected them to high-five at the end of the battle...

This is the sequel the first JP deserved. Such a fun movie, albeit with a few flaws. But still it was a very entertaining flick. The CGI wasn't THAT bad, and didn't take away from many of the scenes. Wouldn't mind watching it again.

On par with JP3. Had some fun moments, but terribly bland characters and generic story made it hard to sit through at times. The effects were also the worst of the 4 films. It would also get way too over the top, as if it wondered off into Steven Sommers / Micheal Bay territory. - 5/10

Entirely fun and entertaining!

Best "fun" movie of the year so far. Not the masterpiece the original was, but it's hard to believe anyone feels cheated after watching it. There were even some tossed in lines about them manipulating the dinosaurs all along which kept them from looking "correct."

The only downside was the silly military plot. They could have played that down and it would have improved the movie, but everything with Pratt, Howard, and the dinos was awesome! It is undeniable.....Pratt is a star.

The best "fun movie" of the summer would be Mad Max Fury road. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this. The cgi in JW is garbage! Sure fun popcorn flick. But far from being anywhere close on mad max entertainment level.

Depends how you define 'fun' - not everyone would agree Mad Max is fun and I can tell you know more families will go and see JW and it will also trounce it at the box office. Mad Max has a specialist audience as proven by the numbers. I wish everyone would stop banging on about the CGI element - the film had it right that everyone now thinks they're an expert and isn't wowed by things but for me the park was great, the I-Rex was great CGI and maybe the raptors weren't as good as the other

Fun but major flaws

This movie was extremely poorly written and full of gaping plot holes and not fully fleshed out threads that went nowhere. However, the unthinking kid in me really loved the dinosaurs and the actors were all affable.
But from the beginning, I could tell they were setting up the i-Rex exactly where he was going. Though the trained raptor thing was not quite as stupid as I imagined it would be, when they met up with I-Rex it went back to stupid for me. The divorce angle made no sense, the mad

The divorce angle made no sense, the mad scientist thing came out of left field, the helicopter pilot thing made no sense and neither did the dinosaur tearing out its tracking implant or that they were breeding these things as weapons with no failsafes after having three major incidents where the predecessors to these fuckers went apeshit and killed a ton of people. But if you can suspend your higher brain functions for a couple of hours, it is definitely worth checking out.

The divorce was meant to set up the child characters to be in search of a father figure, which becomes Chris Pratt. The mad scientist thing explained how they developed the i-rex and why; because the owner of the park wanted bigger and better attractions. I'm not sure that digging out a tracking implant bothers me all that much, it'd probably create discomfort. I've seen dogs and cats chew at their collars to get them off.

Everyone keeps complaining that using the raptors as weapons was a stupid idea; but that's the point. The military wannabe guy heading that program didn't know what he was doing or what he was talking about. It was a stupid idea, which is why Pratt tried to go against it initially, and why the effort ultimately failed.

Other than that, what were the gaping plot holes, and which threads were not fully fleshed out?

If you can't see plot holes in an island with over 20,000 people, only these kids getting lost or encountering the I-Rex, or that the giant sea monster can just snatch anyone who comes too close to the railing, or that the helicopter pilot disappears when the shit hits the fan without taking the helicopter, or that an animal raised in isolation speaks raptor though she never encountered one, just because she's "secretly" part raptor, or that raptors want to eat certain humans at certain

Also, why would the kids be looking for a father figure when they lived with their father who was receiving mail? And why mention the whole divorce thing and then have no resolution with the parents?
Who rescued the scientist? How can Bryce Dallas Howard outrun a T-Rex in heels? The T-rex and the raptor can suddenly communicate and tell them let the kids live?
The movie doesn't add up. Don't let your goodwill and good time at the movies allow you to excuse sloppy writing.

Darth, you left out the part where Owen (Pratt) was repeatedly firing a lever action rifle without cocking it. I found that particularly jarring. And why is it better to have a T Rex running loose than an I Rex? Are T Rexes suddenly nice and fluffy now that something meaner has come along, or are they still meat eaters who wouldn't hesitate to chomp on humans? And what about all the flying dinos who are now free to fly wherever they want? Lots of plot holes.

Loved it! Total summer blockbuster. Don't agree with the comments around CGI and some of the comments about the dino quality. For me the dino's were brilliant and I loved the T-Rex / Raptor climax. I also loved the fact we finally got our fully functioning park like sea world and Disney world. It was great to see Dinosaurs and JP return after such a long absence definite thumbs up and would give it a solid 8/10

I agree. Why did they allow the raptors to communicate. They had a free shot and just stood there then waited for an irrelevant order. i thought they had an assignment to begin with. Why did they have to wait for an order to fire the missile? That was stupid.

5-6 out of 10

Okay bit of eye candy for the summer, and Chris Pratt was highly watchable as usual although I did expect him to go full Star Lord every time I saw him. Probably the silliest/dumbest film in the series, but at least there was plenty of action to keep your blood pumping.

I enjoyed it. It didn't give me the same feeling I had when I saw the first JP as a kid, but it was fun. Seeing the raptors again was great. There were a lot of moments that brought me back and the action was pretty fantastic. I don't exactly want to run out and see it again right away, but I had a great experience with the film.

It's a good setup. Nice ideas, but then the story remains very straightforward. People make stupid decisions, someone warns everyone "This is going to be bad", and then dinos escape and panic ensues.
And did they really have to throw in the "The Goverment Wants them for the Military" angle? The old Alien/Aliens schtick?

But the dinosaurs were nicely dinosaury, the action was actiony. I just wish there was some twist that I didn't see coming.

I'm guessing none of the people who are complaining about the movie either don't have kids or went in expecting the movie to be a disappointment. Granted I don't have kids, but I was 15 when the first Jurassic Park came out, but was still very much in awe of what Speilberg brought in bringing dinosaurs to the screen The sequels were ok & the 2nd turned campy in the end. The third was ok & luckily a very short film that just felt out of place. My guess is if you have the same attitude as you

I'll be seeing this next week. Bottom line people on this site need to lighten up a bit.

Jurassic Park 3 is honestly better.

I hated this movie. The first thirty minutes was great, I was happy. Having a good time.
Then people started dying, in just the absolute worst ways. This shouldn't have been PG13, This is an R RATED movie. Dear lord was it obscene and gross.

The assistant's death was honestly one of the most horrific deaths I've ever seen, and she didn't deserve it. So many innocent people are maimed and killed in this. It was like a Michael Bay Jurassic Park movie, just completely unfeeling and

Who ever deserves to be eaten alive ? Did Chrissy or the Kintner boy from Jaws deserve it? Did Muldoon or even the blood sucking lawyer from Jurassic Park really "deserve" to die that way? I guess I don't know what you expected in a movie like this if you watched the others.

There was very little blood and what there was was off camera kills.

I think you're seeing things that weren't there. Most of the carnage was kept in shadows or cut away from, and what little blood was actually seen was a splatter on a wall or window here and there.

It wasn't any more or less bloody than the other Jurassic Park sequels which also had people get eaten.

Lots of fun.

I knew when the feminists started howling at the moon, that it probably meant this was going to be pretty good, and I was right. I was saddened to see the new owner of the park die, I liked that character and hoped he would continue in potential future movies. Whedon can get bent. Whatever trope he's whining about - it works. Probably the best Jurassic Park since the first.

More Is Less In 4th Jurassic

While I enjoyed seeing the dinos again, Jurassic World was a complete mess. The plot never really solidifies into anything and is way too slow in the build-up. I felt as though I was watching a collection of set pieces strewn together by a thin storyline filled with uninteresting characters. In fact, none of the main characters ever develop nor distinguish themselves apart from one another. I can't even remember any of the characters names with the exception of Henry Wong and only because I

The original Jurassic Park was littered with great characters like Ian Malcolm, Ellie, and Dr. Grant. Each of them brought to the screen a unique, original voice which made you care what happened as the dinos began to chomp. Jurassic World was a great concept that failed to deliver anything beyond a forgettable piece of summer fluff. Such a missed opportunity.

I loved it

Going again tonight and I cannot wait. I thought the first 15 minutes were a bit slow but once it got going I loved it until the very end. I don't get the complaints; I just had fun with it and left my magnifying glass at home. Far fetched at times? Who cares, it's dinosaurs running amok, what's not to love about that? Chris Pratt was amazing and I really like Bryce Dallas Howard as well, and moreso as the movie progressed. Crazy wild fun.

It was ok at best. Lots of crap shoehorned in to advance the plot ("Hey, remember when we rebuilt grandpa's Malibu?" Yecchh), some fairly wooden acting and a brutally stupid climax take away from a film with a lot of potential.

Did Not Love Every Second of It

I thought the I-Rex was awesome, the action scenes were effective for the most part and some of the humor was funny. But.....
SPOILERS....It was pretty stupid, especially in the third act. I mean, using dinosaurs as weapons? Really? And the scene where the T-Rex and Raptor look at each other and give themselves a mental high five made me roll my eyes. I even heard someone behind me say it was cheesy as it happened. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, will buy it, officially makes part 3 look

I made none of the originals are spotless, but that scene at the end with the T-Rex and Raptor reminded me of Anchorman when Baxter and the Bear have that conversation. I think someone on this site even called the ending with the water dinosaur. A Solid 7 out of 10, no higher.

In any other situation, I'd agree about the T-Rex -Raptor high-five. But the whole movie basically established that dinosaurs are more like dogs than lizards or snakes, in the sense that they can communicate and learn loyalty. Heck, they've established this notion ever since the first JP. I thought the scene was pretty cool. They might kill each other tomorrow, but today, they were in the same pack. Loved it.

Best sequel in the series so far

It felt like a natural progression in the story from the first to this one, it feels as if part II and III never happened. Great chemistry between characters, good effects, great action, nods to the original...it kept me entertained! A good sequel, recommend it.

Loved every second of it.

For two hours I felt like I was 6, it was 1993 again, and dinosaurs were back to unleash some much needed chaos. Jurassic World brought back a certain nostalgic vibe that was somewhat present in The Lost World but completely absent from Jurassic Park 3. It wasn't a perfect movie, CGI was shoddy in places, characters were not as strong as the first JP, and then some. But it felt, sounded, and looked like a sequel to the original. It was fun, it was fast, and it had a third act worthy of any

I loved it!

I know it might have been a bit predictable but I don't care so is the avengers films but I love those as well. the action scenes were great & Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard made a good partnership. I thought it was better than 2nd & 3rd films.
First time I also cared about some dinosaurs living as well
oh & the original movies score when they set foot in a certain building sent chills down my nostalgic spine

It was as bad as I expected it to be.

It wasn't that good. The CGI was terrible in many scenes. They basically directed this like a michael bay film. If you ONLY care about action scenes, then this is for you. As everything else was just bland and felt forced.

I agree that the CGI was okay, but you know something is wrong when you prefer the CGI effects in The Lost World: Jurassic Park over the 2015 CGI effects in Jurassic World.

I would say that Jurassic World felt nothing like a Michael Bay film, cause you had actors actually acting at looking at Indominus Rex in horror. Also, Jurassic World felt nothing like a music video which is how Michael Bay shoots all his films. Non-stop tracking shots, several long slow motion takes, fight scenes where

Jurassic World did not have these Michael Bay features.
I will say that like a Michael Bay film there was a lot of product placement, but it's completely logical in Jurassic World case cause it's a theme park. Businesses would kill to have their name and establishment at the world's only dinosaur theme park.

So conflicted!

On one hand, this movie delivered some INCREDIBLE action set pieces, the I-Rex was genuinely scary, and those last 20-30 minutes were pure cinematic bliss. I'm still coming off that high. But the characters, the themes, the fact that it's supposed to be a Jurassic Park movies...none of that actually delivers whatsoever. If I view this as a completely isolated "B-movie" monster flick, then it's incredibly enjoyable. But as an addition to the Jurassic Park franchise, which is supposed to inspire

But as an addition to the Jurassic Park franchise, which is supposed to inspire awe and terror and highs and lows and lovable characters and clever science? It's utterly disappointing schlock.

It's easy to get swept up in the spectacle and emotions of the final act (honestly, if the rest of the movie had been as ambitious and flat-out BONKERS as that final act, this movie could've been really something special), but I really don't think we've yet seen a worthy sequel to Jurassic Park. But Jurassic World is more than worth the price of admission...just don't expect much. There are so many parallels between this movie and the recent Godzilla movie, but I firmly believe Godzilla managed to accomplish what it set out to do. Jurassic World, on the other hand? In some respects, absolutely! In others? In the ones that actually count the most? Not so much.

Pretty much all of this. This is the reason I enjoy JPIII, regardless of all the hate, because instead of aiming for the majesty and thematic quality of the original, it aims to be a constant rock 'em sock 'em dinosaur b-movie from start to finish and suceeds.
Jurassic World aims for that in its last half hour brilliantly, but completely misfires the "awe" and character factor that it's attempting for the first hour or so. JPIII starts, brings in a character you already like, and just throws

Solid fun with good intense JP style frights which were long due.

I was happy to see Jurassic World bring back the same intensity of fright with the Raptors that we got back in 1993. Also I must give this film credit for it's defense of making Indominus Rex. "Why did you experiment by mixing different DNA's?" "We did during Jurassic Park with Dino DNA and frog DNA". Well played!

Perhaps, Ingen inspecting the remains and laying new ground for building Jurassic World. Also I thought for sure we'd see something result from the buried Barbasol shaving cream can. Despite it's flaws and mediocre script Jurassic World is still fun, entertaining, and terrifying enough to see and see more than once. I do have one good question, is Jurassic World good because it's coming after the awful Jurassic Park 3? Would the film be good if it was after The Lost World or if JW was the sequel right after the original Jurassic Park?

Very cool!

I really enjoyed the movie. I love BDH as always and Chris Pratt stole the show. Yeah there wasn't much practical effects but I was ok with the CGI. I love the call backs to the original without it being overdone.

I mean come on! Did anyone who saw the original in the 90's not get a chill when the original score was playing for the first time!!?
Overall a very fun film and the first worthy sequel to the franchise!

Wow...this was horrible.

I didn't see one practical dinosaur. Bryce's dialogue was nails-on-a-chalkboard bad. The movie thought it was wayyy funnier than it actually was. And sorry, raptors aren't our friends. One-liners after near-death were overused to the max. The movie would make rules, like that the dino can sniff you out if you don't cover your scent in something like gas...and then forget and break this rule two or three more times in the flick. There is a woman killed early in the film who is basically tortured

One-liners after near-death were overused to the max. The movie would make rules, like that the dino can sniff you out if you don't cover your scent in something like gas...and then forget and break this rule two or three more times in the flick. There is a woman killed early in the film who is basically tortured to death for entirely too long to not be considered cruel. She's picked up and dropped by a pterydactyl, grabbed up and dropped by another one, dropped from high up into a large whale-tank of water, snagged up by a diving dactyl, pulled out of the water, flown back up into the air, beaten against the surface of the water and nearly drowned about ten times, then eaten by a larger dinosaur who swallows the dactyl while he is busy swallowing the still alive and thrashed woman. Was very mean to a character who wasn't even a bad guy. And the entire movie is basically set into motion because a dumb security guard runs the wrong way and opens the wrong gate while being chased. I cringed at so much of this movie. Dinos respecting each other? Listening to people? Nope, sorry. And they showed the main baddie dino early and often...too often. There was no Jaws-like subtlety No awe-inspiring scenes, like the rex attack in JP1; just CG monsters eating other CG monsters and making friends with humans. Oh yeah, and how is the same T-Rex still alive? Malcolm's "life will find a way" approach only applies to those born AFTER the initial engineering process. Rex wasn't a new birth in the wild, therefore she was lysine deficient and would have died three days after the first film. And if the lysine thing got glitched, why the hell does Henry Wu still work there? So he was wrong about the dinos changing sex, wrong about them breeding, wrong about the lysine crutch, embryos were stolen from HIS department and he made a killing machine dinosaur without permission. Just wayyy too many unanswered questions, far too many rules being broken after they're firmly set into stone, and the dinosaurs weren't scary anymore. They're everywhere, thousands of them right in your face. We shouldn't root for them. It's bittersweet when Rex shows up and saves the day from the raptors in JP1 because we're not supposed to be cheering for him, but we do anyway. This movie had none of that. I didn't care who won or lost. Boy, what a letdown.

Your terribly over thinking this 4th movie entry in a franchise about monster dinosaurs in which some of them attack and kill.
In your frustration with the woman being killed "EARLY" in the film during the pterodactyl scene (which was actually over halfway through the film), you make this scene sound way more horrible than it really was. Compared to the opening death of Christy in Jaws, the woman killed in JW was nothing!

She's picked up and dropped by a pterydactyl but then caught in mid-air by the pterydactyl. Duh...that's what bird like creatures do with their live food. Then she's dropped in the pool where the pterydactyl tries to eat her until they are both killed by the Mosasurus. You say she wasn't a bad person. She was a thoughtless and selfish person! She wasn't doing her job of watching Bryce's nephews, she was always on her phone and not doing what she's being paid a lot of money to do. Honestly compared to the sight of seeing a pterodactyl trying to kill a baby Triceratops I could care less about the brainless nanny.
Then your argument of the fat security guard, who could not run for shit cause he's fat! He went to the nearest exit to him which happen to be the bigger gate to escape alive. It was stupid to open the big gate, but that's what a lot people do in frantic death situations, they make dumb decisions with little time to think.
You say the film showed the Indominus Rex too early. They showed her eyes, some outlines of her amongst the trees, and her feet and claws and teeth when she escapes. We did not FULLY see her until the first capture team went after her.
"Malcolm's "life will find a way" approach only applies to those born AFTER the initial engineering process." NO IT DOES NOT! He's talking about life in both the present and the future!
"T-Rex wasn't a new birth in the wild, therefore she was lysine deficient and would have died three days after the first film" They established the issue with the Lysine failure in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Remember? Malcolm asked that question to Hammond.
The film had flaws and unanswered questions, like why was there only one big machine gun on the whole island? Maybe to keep idiots from going around and hunting the animals. Or why was everyone hanging out in the open of the park after the rides were closed? There is a hotel, a waterpark, and an IMAX theater on the island for people to go to. But you're complaints and frustrations are not sound, most of them have logical answers. Also, it's a movie about DINOSAURS!!!! Leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the ride!

SchaefDizzle - of course we're all entitled to our opinions and if we like or dislike a movie then that's how we feel regardless of the reasons. However, I gotta say you're over thinking everything too much man. I've not seen it yet (four hours), but I know that much. It's a movie about dinosaurs in a theme park!

It was good, and a summer blockbuster well worth your time. There were some great action scenes, and you could tell a lot of heart was put into the project. The characters aren't as well developed as the other films, but the actors still do a good job. I have some minor complaints, like I would have preferred to hear more of John Williams' themes incorporated, and most the deaths are just for nameless security and tourists that don't really have any shock or emotion connected to it. I like it,

7/10

Solid film, entertaining summer escapism. Had some nice nods to the first JP film while still carving out its own identity. It has its flaws and is far from perfect, but it delivers in the end. I think its safe to say also it is better then either of the previous sequels.

I loved the movie! Though I do think most of the characters were very porrly written and the dialogue was iffy most of the time. And the score was for the most part very good but felt very out of place at times. I think if Treverrow had written more three dimensional characters this could of been on par with the original. I also thought the story was surprisingly good. It went some places I didn't see coming and the pacing was very well done. So even though I loved it and it is one of my

So even though I loved it and it is one of my favorites of the year thus far, I will admit it has some problems. LIGHTYEARS ahead of 2 and 3 though, 7.5/10.

Absolutely loved it and as a huge fan of the franchise, well worth the wait. It's just a fun ride from beginning to end and to see the park finally open and in Hammond's vision was a nice little treat for us fans. It borrows enough references from the original film, but also does a great job of being its own entry without having to rely on the old films (or in this case the original....ie the whole kid angle, the whole park goes to hell) all too much.

Story was solid and I had no problem

Story was solid and I had no problem with the Raptors being trained for somewhat of the film. Granted the cgi isn't as great as it was in the original trilogy, but it didn't bother me so much since I had stated before that the story was solid and that you actually cared for the characters. And speaking of the characters, I thought the cast did a terrific job of making you actually care about them and most of the characters do have their chance to shine or have their own heroic scene or two. But in all honesty, Pratt steals the show yet again (at least on the human side) and proves why he is as popular, charismatic, and badass as everyone makes him out to be. Him and Howard make a great duo and have irresistible chemistry like Neill and Dern did in the original. Plus it was awesome to D'Onofrio chew up scenery like he always does effortlessly.

And I have to say that the new hybrid T-Rex was pretty badass and had some nice intense, frightening moments like the T-Rex did in the first film. But there's so much more to this new dinosaur that we haven't seen yet in the trailers. A lot of numerous, nice lethal tactics to this new hybrid that makes it the threatening beast that we have seen in the trailers/clips.

All in all though, had a terrific time and I would easily rank this as the second best entry in the franchise. Definitely one of the more recent, fun, and smart Blockbusters to come out in a while and there's a couple of nice surprises as well. Non stop action with characters that are actually smart and pleasant and just aren't cliche and/or one note. The film has redirectedthe franchise back on the right track after the utterly forgettable Jurassic Park 3 and am excited to see where they take the story next. The ending does give a subtle hint, but who knows.
