What Did You Think? We want your Fast Five review!

Apr. 29, 2011by: Mike Sampson

It's not often that the fifth installment of a franchise goes over as well with critics and audiences as FAST FIVE. The movie is "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes and is poised for over $80 million this weekend at the box-office. Not bad considering they're just starting to hit their stride.

Our own Chris Bumbray called FAST FIVE a "damn fine way" to kick-off the summer movie season and with so much excitement around the film we want to know what YOU think! As we often do, we're going to leave this article up all weekend with the Strike Backs open and encourage you to post YOUR review of FAST FIVE. If you're so inclined, you can even post a review to your Movie Fan Central profile (you can view the MFC reviews of FAST FIVE here).

I say this often and you wouldn't think it'd be relevant with a movie like this but, trust me, it is: PLEASE NO SPOILERS. And, as always, no attacking, flaming or insulting other users.

This movie knows exactly what it is, a fun summer action flick, and man was it fun. The action was non stop. The girls and cars were hot. Yes the acting could use some work, but this isn't Inception and I have no problems with that at all.

Overall it was a very fun movie. It's wasn't terribly good, with several laughable moments. The dramatic scenes were also pretty laughable, especially watching Vin Diesel pretend to cry (or hold back tears anyway). But what worked, worked damn well. The action here was fantastic and that last scene alone was worth the price of admission itself. So, overall liked it. Best in the series.

Just my opinion

The movie was a little disappointing overall. From a franchise that has been this successful, it's not too much to ask for a little bit higher quality acting than is on display here. Some of the delivery is cringe worthy/borderline lol, especially The Rock. The plot is incoherent if existent at all. There is no progression of the characters one bit. We don't even get to really see them enjoy their new lives. Guess that's for number 6. Let down.

How is the plot nonexistent? Dom is a fugitive convicted of 20 years in prison. O'Connor breaks him out of jail. They are now fugitives. The Rock and his team are hired to bring them in. Dom/O'Connor have been chased to the brink and are tired of running.. one last job with the perfect team can buy them their freedom. Their target is the richest man in Brazil who is also corrupting the country. They use him so the audience doesn't feel bad about our "fugitives" stealing his money. They

The best of the "Fast" movies

I seriously cannot remember the last time that the summer movie season began w/ such a fun rush as Fast Five was.

From Diesel to Nos

Besides 2 Fast 2 Furious I've enjoyed this series. Great cars, chase scenes, and of course the races. Fast Five gave me everything I wanted and then some. I hope this is just the tip of the iceberg for the 2011 movie season.

Kick Ass

I've never been a fan of this series, but this one was awesome. The plot made no sense, most of the acting was horrific and the Rock was sweating in every scene...AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. The action was sublime; Justin Lin is really talented with wrecking/blowing shit up. I love Mr. Penis/Vin Diesel!!!

It's refreshing to see an action film using largely practical effects, but what really surprised me was the overall lack of cheese. I dunno, it just might be the best of the series.

My Thoughts

I'd have to say it is the best one of the entire series. They seem to have gotten away from the car culture aspect of the previous films. In my opinion, this is more of a heist movie. Justin Lin really did a good job with the action sequences. The dialogue is still a little a cheesy, but not as much as in previous films. The ensemble cast was great. It was nice to see actors returning from previous installments. OH... The Rock and Vin Diesel throwing down in an epic fight scene. Need I

Make sure to stic around after the credits for a neat little surprise/shocker. Those familiar with the series will really appreciate it. All in all, a great movie to kick of the summer movie season.

I thought it was ...ok. I wasn't as thrilled as some others seem to be about it. Just wasn't all that exciting and the dreadful acting/situations started to get to me. Its also scary that Justin Lin is taking over the Terminator franchise...I did like seeing The Rock lay the smackdown on Vin Diesel's candy ass. We need more beefed up and pissed off Dwayne Johnson.

They got the whole Mission Impossible thing going on in this one and it works. They are taking this franchise in the right direction, I love it. Watch the first one, the last one, and then this one and stay through the end credits for a crazy twist!

The Best!

Was the best of the series. Was like watching the "Expendables" of the Fast and Furious movies. Was defintely the Rocks best role, got excited everytime he was on the screen. The script was really good for this type of movie.

Definitely a great, mindless summer action movie. Justin Lin seems like he could at least handle the action in a Terminator movie (and that's really all that franchise has become, too: mindless action).

And it really seems they're trying to move the series away from it's street racing roots and into the heist genre. Those parts of the movie seemed really unnecessary and tacked on, barely shout outs by film makers forced to include them.

Still fun.

THE ACTION FILM TO BEAT!

Now this is what a sequel should be and that's bigger, better, more surprises, more action, thrills and a reunion of characters from the past sequels as well as fresh new ones which makes one bad@ss and rare sequel that manages to surpass the original by a mile and reignite the series, a success that Scream 4 failed to do with its series. From beginning to end there is unrelenting action sequences that raises the bar for action flicks, some twists and turns, epic fight scenes one including Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, beautiful women, cars and locations, it's filled with testosterone and has tons of entertainment value and is the spring/summer action flick to beat. This is like if Speed and The Town had a baby that wasn't as smart as them but ten times more cooler and the pretty one everyone likes and definitely more fun and bad@ss. The acting on the other hand wasn't amazing but was expected but you grown to love these characters and they're just so awesome and again bad@ss that the flaw can be thrown out the window and for a action flick they're great and you got to love Vin Diesel and The Rock which are better than ever! There is one surprising bit at the end credits that made my jaw drop and makes me so freaking pumped for the next sequel, bring it on! Overall this is what I wanted it to be and more and what all sequels should be but unfortunately they're not and this is the most exhilarating, fun time I've had at the movie theaters all year and definitely makes up for the films that disappointed me this year so far like Scream 4 ect. and if you liked the last sequel you will absolutely love this one! Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!! EYE CANDY GALORE!

This is the best sequel in the franchise and is honestly on par with the first. That's not to say it's without faults, though. Some really bad acting at times from Diesel, The Rock, and Jordana as well as some cliche'd lines and spotty dialogue. You'll have to bend the rules of physics a bit at times, but then again, it's a FUN action movie. The script was pretty tight and the story was much more engaging and interesting this time around. BONUS: Stay after the credits for an awesome scene and preview of Fast Six!

The movie kicked ass...

plain and simple. Some atrocious dialogue (with exception of the "vaginal" line), but the action was phenomenal. Practical (for the most part), inventive and awesome. Watch your back, Michael Bay, Justin Lin is coming up!

Bring on "Fast Six."

Best Fast yet

This was by far the best in the series.Bringing in the rock was a very smart and fun move. He added what was missing from this franchise. Tokyo Drift was the worst connected film. This film connected the previous films as well by adding more character to everyone. Everything was top notch in this film and hope to see at least one more.

Best of the Seires

The first "check you mind at the door" Summer film is here! The Fast and the Furious 5 is the best film in this (spotty at best) series. The addition of Dwayne Johnson gives the film the extra bravado needed to make it better than the rest. All the action and fight scenes are well done and pretty intense. The acting... well, we're not going to Fast Five for anyone's "acting" ability so let's move on. The climatic final chase scene is pretty damn good too. My one complaint is the direction

My one complaint is the direction continuation of the last film into this one; the scene when they break Vin Diesel out of police custody, while good, is COMPLETE BS. No one dies? In that crash? REALLY?!!? Whatever. Overall, Fast Five is fun, exciting and enjoyable.

Thought the film was great. Best of the franchise. Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are great together. Love Dwayne Johnson's character. My only issue was in [SPOILERS REMOVED]. Other than that, the plot and characters flew nicely and the action rocked.

Great entertainment...!

just finished seeing it. Awesome is an understatement. Great homages to the other movies in the series. Loved seeing the Schulze again. Rock was straight bad ass. Best throw down I've seen since Lethel Weapon. Plus I just love the "family" they portray in that bad guy with a good heart, vigilante do what's right style...think that covers it. Can't wait to see what they do next. Oh yeah, liked how they tied the races in too.
