What Did You Think? We want your Green Lantern review!

Jun. 17, 2011by: Mike Sampson

People have not been kind to GREEN LANTERN so far. There were many people, me included, who had hoped that it would be the antidote for generic superhero movies like THOR who just felt like they were going through the motions. But that's exactly what the critics are saying about GREEN LANTERN. JimmyO didn't much care for it and then Chris Bumbray saw it and he really didn't like it.

But with so much excitement around the film we want to know what YOU think! As we often do, we're going to leave this article up all weekend with the Strike Backs open and encourage you to post YOUR review of GREEN LANTERN. If you're so inclined, you can even post a review to your Movie Fan Central profile. You can even check the average rating of all the MFC reviews of GREEN LANTERN here.

I say this often but PLEASE NO SPOILERS. And, as always, no attacking, flaming or insulting other users.

Liked It

I saw it last night and liked it. Did I think it was the best comic book movie I had ever seen? No. I do think that it was a great building block to introduce the difficult source material to a wider audience. I am certainly hoping that it does well enough to warrant a sequel to further explore what they laid the groundwork for. In the end this film was most certainly better than movies like X3, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, Jonah Hex, Catwoman, Wolverine: Origins, and countless others that have

I've read some of these reviews and I honestly don't see how on earth they could compare this movie to any of those in terms of quality.

So glad I saw this for free

This is a perfect example how not to make a superhero movie. Everything in this movie flat out sucked. Ryan Reynolds' acting, the CGI, the music, the whole thing was just awful. Almost felt like I was watching a video game at times. 3/10 As bad as Wolverine, X3, Spider Man 3, and both Fantastic Fours.

Loved It!

I saw it last night at midnight and loved every second of it. This movie truly felt like a superhero movie and it is my favorite superhero comic book movie and favorite movie (overall) to come out this year.
The movie was very well made and the cinematography and special effects were great. The movie had a great story, a great cast to bring the characters to life (especially Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern) and great directing. I liked how the movie took itself seriously, but

I liked how the movie took itself seriously, but also knew when to have fun. Everything about this film felt and looked like how a Green Lantern movie should be.
Ryan Reynolds being cast made me a bit skeptical at first because I thought there were better actors out there for the role, but after seeing the film, Ryan Reynolds IS Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the same way Robert Downey Jr IS Tony Stark/Iron Man. He did a terrific, fantastic job and I hope this movie (finally) makes him an A-List star. The rest of the cast did a fantastic job as well all the way from Lively to the scene stealing Mark Strong as Sinestro.
The movie was great and surpassed my expectations easily. I hope we get to see a proper trilogy from this franchise because this is one movie and superhero character that truly deserves it.
10/10.

I respect you liking, even though I hated it, but really? Best of 2011 so far? I was almost convinced that was a joke.

I agree dude, GL was a great fun movie - takes me back to Superman 2 (nothing beats that though!). Sinestro was SICK!!!!

I found it slightly above average, but did enjoy it, if that makes sense. Definitely doesn't deserve all the hate it's getting.

So your work here is done, right?

Just kidding. It's cool you liked it. Personally, I think some reviews are being a bit too harsh. Rather than straight BAD, it looks more MEDIOCRE. Just my opinion though, as I've yet to see it.

Spoiler?

Spoiler (MAYBE??)

There is a secret scene during the middle of the credits that sets up the movie for a sequel. It's not after the entire credits, but after the main actors credits (Reynolds, Lively, Strong, etc).

You know what

It wasn't bad. That doesn't mean it's without it's faults. But I was expecting something godawful from the reviews, but I was entertained. The constructs were really cool, and it was fun. I wish they had the balls to go all out with the cosmic stuff though.

Seriously critics?!

Green Lantern was a lot of fun. WAY better then what the critics would lead you to believe. Just see it for yourself. If you are a real comic book fan, meaning you actually READ comic books, you'll like this film.

I wanted to like this, but I couldnt help feel there was so much time wasted on the Earth scenes. GLs big reveal to the world was a joke. Not enough time on Oa with Sinestro, Kilowog and Tomar-Re. With that said, I thought all the actors did a fine job (including Blake Lively, who I never thought would be a good fit for the role). The scenes on Oa were really good, the incredibly brief training with Kilowog & Sinestro was fun and the final battle with Paralax was satisfying too. But

But for so much of this movie, the pacing was so slow. I wasnt bored with the movie, but there were parts that either slowed the film down or just didnt belong.

In the end, Id welcome a sequel, now that the characters are established. Green Lantern just felt like such a small movie when it was supposed to be a space epic. Epic it wasnt: Just a waste of perfectly good characters and stories.

A solid summer flick...

While Green Lantern wasn't by any means amazing or even original (as far as comic/superhero movies go), it was fun and entertaining... The worst thing aboue this movie is it's release timing, coming out within weeks of two very good comic movies (X-Men First Class and Thor)... I think if Green Lantern came out 2 months sooner, it would have been received by better reviews from fanboys/movie geeks like, well, all of us...

Solid, not overwhelming but solid

I'm satisfied with Green Lantern. Granted, he is one of my favorite comic characters but I went into this movie with not-so-high expectations looking for a good time and I got exactly that. The timing of the release might contribute to its criticism because there will be comparisons to the other recent summer releases. Comparing it to other comic book movies might also be unfair but overall, I'm happy with the movie. It's not the best of the best but it is solid in IMO. I am looking forward to

Green Lantern was good, maybe not as epic as some expect but still a pretty decent summer popcorn flick, I know I enjoyed it.

mediocre

I didn't hate it, but I wasn't thrilled by it either there were some parts that just slowed the film down to a crawl.I think the biggest problem I had with it was it hit every comic book cliche and didn't offer anything new or exciting...and I STILL think Reynolds was miscast.

LOVED IT

Almost didn't go because of the critics.. So glad I gave it a chance. It was my 3rd favorite movie of the year so far after X-Men and Super 8. Sadly July's movie will probably move it down the list but still.

It was awesome. Dialogue wasn't that bad. The CGI was sick as well. Give it a shot. Don't let bad reviews sway you!

2.5/5

it was ok... It had a poorly paced script. And Hector was really underdeveloped as a character, when Peter was the best actor in the whole movie. I'm looking forward to the sequel because Sinestro is badass. But I still don't know why they didn't use him for the first one...

I fully enjoyed this movie and its definitely worth the watch. Dont let the reviews scare you off this one; I have no idea how a lot of critics are giving this a low score. Its not perfect at all but I enjoyed it as much as I did the first Ironman. The acting was good all around from Ryan, Blake, Peter and Strong. Strong as Sinestro is such perfect casting; hes amazing in the movie. Peter is awesome as Hector as well and there should have been more of him in the flick. Ryan made a perfect

Just like everyone is saying there should have been more time spent on OA but thats no biggie. The pacing of it was fine and flowed well. There were a couple of really corny lines throughout the film but it doesnt take much away. Over all I give it 7.5/10.

I really enjoyed the movie it was really well done. Again its not the dark knight but lets be honest no other super hero movie will top that film ever so stop comparing it to that. I dont understand how people rave for Fast Five and give it a good review but bash this. it doesnt make sense. This film sets up the sequel perfectly and the second one will be even better you can just tell.

Good Times

I ususally agree with the JoBlo staffers movie reviews, but lately that has not been the case. I really enjoyed Green Lantern, much better than X-Men: First Class. Saw it in 3D, and it definitely was worth the money. Effects were amazing! The Earth stuff did bore me a bit though, and there should've been more Tomar-Re and Kilowog. The scene during the credits got me pumped for a sequel!

Didn't Think Outside the Box

There were moments of greatness in this movie, but those moments of great creativity were bogged down by a very cliched script. The origin story tried way too hard to mimic Spiderman and came off boring. I wish the writers and filmmakers would have come up with a more unique way to do the origin than such a straight forward approach. That in the end was its downfall. It took way too long for the movie to get going and the action sequences, while fantastic, were all lumped in the second half

Action adventure scripts always usually have problems, but good ones slam you over the head with such good action that you don't care or notice. But when you save your action setpieces until the end, the problems are a lot more obvious. I liked the cast just fine and the special effects were a lot better than I expected them to be.

For the life me, I am not sure why this movie got such bad reviews. It was not perfect by any means, but I feel people were way too harsh.

Maybe it was fatigue from all the comic book movies to date... but I believe that this movie was better than Thor.

Further, all of GLs problems were also present in Thor - yet that got good reviews.

I am thoroughly confused as to why GL was not better received. It was a lot of fun and a good movie I felt.

"Thor" had several less issues (maybe hundreds less) than this tripe had. "Thor" was actually funny, the jokes here fell flat. There was interesting stuff going on in Asgard during Thor's Earth-bound days, that was interesting and kept the movie going. Here, we get the "Hal, you are irresponsible" talk about 500 times and 2 minutes worth of the Corps, awesome!

Completely agree. Especially with the Thor comments. It's almost like a couple people give it a bad review and it gets the ball rolling in that direction. There's no reason Thor should be rated one way and GL the opposite. I liked them both equally. Problems and all.

You are right on the money there - Thor had a LONG 1 hour chunk of boring stuff - at least in GL the on earth stuff had more going on. Thor is in a cafe/small town doing nothing for one hour.

Average at best

I went to see this at the midnight screener at the theater because I really wanted to like this movie. I really did. Green Lantern is one of my favorite comic heroes and followed the news on the film since Comic-Con. With that being said I was really let down. The movie wasn't terrible as the critics make it seem, but it certainly wasn't very good either. Among the things were Ryan Reynolds. I honestly though he portrayed Hal Jordan real well and any fault in the character was due to his lack

I honestly though he portrayed Hal Jordan real well and any fault in the character was due to his lack of development in the script. Strong gave a superb performance as Sinestro and would of loved to seen more of him. The suits looked very nice and alot of the action while silly was entertaining. Now what ruined the film for me. It was extremely corny and preditcable and I'm not sure if this comes from watching too many comic book adaptations but I could predict who would say what and how Hal would save the day. The villains were perhaps the worst thing of the film as me and everyone else in my theatre couldn' help but laugh everytime Hector Hammond was on the screen with his huge forehead. No one saw him as a threat and neither that flying pile of feces that was Parallax. I understand this a comic book film but I could not get past the fact that people could not recognize Hal as the GL. His mask is supposed to protect his identity but anyone could tell by his hair and face who the hell he really was. The pacing was horrible and I was surprised that in Chris's review he says the film is about 105 minutes long but it really drags. So much I felt it actually to be about 2 hours long. The scenes in Oa are definitely the best ones as compared to the ones on Earth and we dont get that many. I really wanted to like the film and dont think its near the level of X-Men Origins: Wolverine or Spider-Man 3, but still pretty horrible. Probably 5 or 6/10 from me. Bring on the thumbs down

Judged way too harshly

I actually really enjoyed this film. The acting was good, the CGI (as far as dealing the GL and his powers, maybe not Parallax though) decent, and the story entertaining enough. I really don't understand why this movie is being given bad reviews. It's not trying to be something so complex and innovative. I went with no expectations so maybe that's why I liked it so much. And, admittedly, I really wanted to like it. I think we get too hung up on comparing one movie to another. I've seen people

I've seen people compare Hal Jordan to Tony Stark, Thor, and Batman and none of those are fair comparisons. I really like Reynolds as GL and Strong as Sinestro. I have to admit that everyone else was kind of just okay. As far as the villains go, let's be honest, the only superheroes that have a decent amount of baddies are Batman and Spiderman and they are obviously trying to develop Sinestro (somewhat) for later films.

MINOR SPOILER
About the mask, no one who saw Hal from a distance could figure out his identity but when Lively saw him up close she "quickly" figured it out. Hal, Ive known you my entire life, you think I wouldnt recognize you because I cant see your cheek bones? I thought that gave a decent amount of credibility to this film cause I was saying the same thing! Anyway I'm an amateur movie-goer and have limited knowledge about the comic world, aka I'm most of the people who will see this and like it, so I hope no one blasts me for doing so.

Green Lantern 1995

The special effects might have been largely up to today's standards, but did anyone else feel like it had a whole 1990s TV movie vibe in its script? Less like a post-Dark Knight comic book movie, more like pre-Batman & Robin. The script and editing were pretty poor, a couple of decent moments, but largely a failure to launch. I want to like it, but it's a 2/5 from me.

Pretty good

I literally can't say much more than that. Let's see, the scenes in which Hal Jordan is introduced are boring but it bookends nicely with the ending. I already mentioned one problem with the script and there was one other thing that Hal's girlfriend said that didn't agree with what his friend said earlier. Oh and the first scenes on planet Oa also set up the end battle nicely. I hate being cryptic like this but there are idiots out there that will consider any detail whatsoever about the

Pretty Good

Overall, the movie was pretty good. My son, who's 4 had a blast, really that's what was important to me. I did feel like someone went through and just trimmed the movie all over the place. I would give examples but I hate ruining for people who haven't seen it. But it just felt awkward at times because of the editing. Ryan Reynolds was just fine as Hal as well as everyone else... with Strong probably being my favorite. I'd like to see the movie with the 20 minutes or so of stuff that was cut

Good Job.

I really really enjoyed it. I mean it had a few minor pacing issues, but other than that it was a really fun movie. I liked that Hal needed to man up in the end and I liked the "admitting to fear" talk. Also the Green Lantern Corps were in it - I mean I always like movies that aim high. I am getting a bit tired of this Xmen vs humans stuff - after 5 Xmen movies we have not seen a good battle against a Sentinel or Apocalypse or anything that aims above making a simple film. At least Green

Just wanted to add some extra GREEEN...

Never thought I'd say it based on the trailers but I had a great time with it! For a superhero flick it has great character/world development and interesting themes without losing sight of its comic roots. It's like "Top Gun" meets "Star Trek" meets "Superman" (complete with awesome theme)... on crack.

I agree that it was a good effort. It was more like Star Wars with the green and yellow sides of the force rather than the light and dark.

Apologists? I honestly believe that most reviewers are jealous of Ryan Reynolds because he used to sleep with Scarlet Johanson. The movie drags a bit because it tried to develop Hal's character. That aspect of the movie obviously didn't work as well as they hoped it would.

The movie didn't make me care about what was going on, so by the end it was a big "so what" for me, especially that Sinestro scene. He was barely in the movie for me to care about his transformation. Maybe you have to be a fan to like the movie, but that doesn't make it a great film.

was totaly brilliant in every way! Brought a lot of freshness to a comic book movie and has a lot of good qualities, the effects where great, the ending was a great set up for a sequel i really hope to see made.

The ones who think this movie is crap obviously don't read GL comics. I thought it was just fine. shouldnt be too harsh on it when its the 1st one ever done. Hopefully they fix the mistakes in the 2nd one. overall 6.5/10 exactly what I expected.

Not bad

I liked it, but I am a fan of the comics. I mean it wasnt mind blowing by any means and it could have used alot more of the Green Lantern Corps members being more involved. But not near as bad as I thought it might be, didnt even mind Reynolds

6/10

The cast was for sure the best part of the movie (Blake Lively=holy shit), Ryan Reynolds is a good GL but I'm pretty sure a three year old wrote the screenplay, come on with the dumbass one liners. Some of the CGI was just laughable and the movie was very forgettable. It was trying too hard to be a Marvel movie but fails miserably (After the credits was just a waste of time). As far as superhero movies go I think it's a notch below Thor but not as horrible as Fantastic 4 or Daredevil.

Not Bad

I just finished watching GL 3D, and it was a decent movie. It seemed rushed and chopped up at times, and there was more earth-time for RR, instead of more OA time, but the CGI for the suits was fine, and over all I would have to say 3-1/2 stars out of 5.

It was terrible. Lively & Reynolds have solid chemistry, but aside from that, this movie had nothing to engage me.

Peter Sargaard was wasted and awful, and the character of Hector Hammond was so poorly developed it's a bit flabbergasting. Tim Robbins showed up because.... I have no idea why. GL's reveal to the public was terrible, and nothing is made of it. Almost every Earth scene was just the same bit of dialogue being repeated over and over. The Corps shows up, and then promptly leave.

However, the worst thing about this movie is the CGI/ special effects. The GL suit was never convincing on Earth, and in space Ryan's head was out of place, obviously being a green screened. Moreover, that damn mask. OMG, it's soo bad, I couldn't believe it. Sarsgaard's prosthetic for his enlarged forehead was so bad, it almost seemed like a parody of itself. The action scenes varied from adequate to WTF. The music is forgettable.

The worst superhero movie since "Catwoman".

Loved it

Green Lantern is better than the cirtics say. It's equal to Thor but not as good as X-men first class. This isn't Batman & Robin. I don't know why people are hating this film. It's better than Iron Man 2. More compelling than Thor. It's not the Dark Knight. But if you are looking for a good time with some fun action Green Lantern delivers. But for god's sake Get Geoff Johns to write the script for GL2!

ok i will admit first off its not what people would call the dark knight good, and for that i'm happy hal jordan is not the dark knight he is hal jordan the movie should feel different from batman, people who complaign about the costume need to remember that that is literally light being bent around his skin just painted on its not a suit and because we are so used to seeing clothing on our superheroes we almost never see them as their bodies actually are.

now lets get to the real part of any review, was the movie, great? nope it was good, 3.5/5 a decent effort and thats a fine effort the problem there were no real moments of epicness and to people who think that just because you have a big star means you got to make an entire backstory around them i say read the comics in the first issue we don't know JJJ's entire life and struggle, we don't need to. thats an area that can be explored later or not at all i never care. sarsgard the red herring was good, made sense he wasn't the main attraction, the idea that he needs to spend every moment burried in becoming something is not something i need. frankly i liked the acting, the story, the CGI, it all worked, and yeah so this one wasn't the best, but you know what just means they have room to grow and learn and be great for the next the problem with being great out the window is when sequel comes along there's hardly a time to be as good or better. i mean i loved batman begins, and the dark knight was just paced badly. but lets not let this review wander.
as said 3.5/5 and well worth it. can't wait for the next one.

I don't get all the hate. It was a lot better than, say, Catwoman. I don't know what they could have done to improve it, to be honest. Sinestro was a good guy in this one and he's going to be a bad guy in the sequel. It wouldn't work if he were the main villain in this one if he starts out being a good guy. I think people need to be more constructive in their criticism. You didn't like the movie? Okay. But what was wrong with it? Does it drag? Okay. Can I rent it on DVD and fast

Bad CGI, really bad pacing, bad logic in the story, too much Blake Lively talking while clothed, and too much patented Ryan Reynolds sad puppy dog eyes. Plus the screaming, flaming skull flying in space (which made me laugh), and you have one movie that should only be seen on dvd rental.
Sure, it's not Jonah Hex bad, but that's about all that's worse than it. If you want to read more, you can check out the rest of my review here:

Again, I don't really get the attitudes on some of you. Just because people disagreed with you or movie critics and liked the movie doesn't mean they are stupid or "apologists".

For those of you acting like this movie is one of the worst of all time let's have a little refresher course shall we? X3, Daredevil, Wolverine: Origins, Spiderman 3, Ghost Rider, Punisher 1 & 2, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, Elektra, Batman and Robin, The Spirit, Catwoman, Jonah Hex and the League of Extraordinary

Green Lantern wasn't near any of those in terms of how "bad" it was. Was it the best superhero movie ever made? No. But it certainly is light years better than any of the movies I just listed. I honestly don't see where all this hate is coming from. Honest to God, I really think the Dark Knight has ruined these types of movies for some of you. That movie was so good, anchored by a once in a lifetime performance by Ledger, that its now impossible for you to enjoy something you deem a "lesser movie". Its quite the sad phenomenon.

But please don't let me derail you...continue ahead making fun of people for disagreeing with you.

Martin, I do agree, and I read reviews simply to get a different take on a movie (maybe the critic saw something I didn't, or caught a plot point I missed), but I do disagree with your idea of what a critic does. Everything has a baseline of objectivity, and in movies, that is usually in terms of good editing, camera angles, lighting, etc. The enjoyment factor is a part of it, but that is more subjective and harder to tell definitively.

I understand what you are saying, filmguy450. I understand that one cannot objectively say whether a movie is bad or not, that people can only give their opinions. But then why do we even care what critics think of the movie? Why do we consider their opinions more important? Critics are supposed to be predicting whether the movie going public will like a movie or not so that we can decide what movies we will personally find worth watching. And, frankly, a lot of critics are often wrong in

Critics are supposed to be predicting whether the movie going public will like a movie or not so that we can decide what movies we will personally find worth watching. And, frankly, a lot of critics are often wrong in their predictions because they go to movies looking for things to complain about rather than sitting back so they can have a good time. And as for Skunkape's comment about Green Lantern being better than X3, well, yeah, it was better than X3, Spiderman 3 or Fantastic Four 2 but not necessarily better than Daredevil, Ghost Rider or Punisher. But so what? The argument still stands because all those movies were better than Wolverine, Elektra or Catwoman and even they were better than Jonah Hex from what I saw of it. (Don't turn me ion for downloading the movie because I didn't even watch it all.)

I grant it's not as bad as some of the movies you listed. I do disagree with you about some of them, and as for "Jonah Hex", that movie failed so spectacularly it's good in a so-bad-its-good kind of way.

As for you "TDK" comments, I find that movie to be good, but vastly overrated, so it'd didn't ruin a thing for me.

But please go ahead and assert that your opinion is right, while telling everyone that disagrees with you that theirs is wrong.

Nope, I see nothing wrong with that, nothing at

I really tried to enjoy it. I'm a big Ryan Reynolds fan but my girlfriend and I could only stomach so much. The movie feels so chopped up and certain things just "happen". It got stupid and totally ridiculous. We walked out right before Parallax was going to attack Earth.

To the people who enjoyed it I'm happy you did but I couldn't watch it. I've only walked out of a few films but I put this up there with the worst of the worst when it comes to superhero movies.

I still can't believe

I really wanted to like this...

Sooo many things were wrong with this movie. Horrible editing, the chemistry between Ryan and Blake felt more like brother sister than people with feelings for eachother. The only geeky thing I could say wrong was the way parallax looked was horrible and they should have saved him for a sequel and made Sinestro the villain. I was really hoping to see them fight outside of a sparring battle. The effects were all over the place, Ryan had the bobble head thing going on and in scenes where he is

And omg, whenever Hector screams... cover your ears lol, not a valid complaint but its the most annoying thing in this movie, and he does it a lot!

THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINING

People tearing this film apart seriously need to let loose and quit analyzing every little second and detail of a movie. Because this is not a Christopher Nolan (real-lifelike) film, people think its stupid. The entire movie was entertaining. Ryan Reynolds (not a big fan) did do a good job. If you go see this movie and expect to have a good time and not spend the entire film criticising every detail, I PROMISE you will love it! Bring on the sequel!

You know, it wasn't the worst movie ever made, but I really, really didn't like it. The script was just lacking, and it felt like even after the lackluster script, the thing was edited to hell. Green Lantern just shows up at places without giving us any reason why he might be going there.

Also... the biggest problem, in my eyes, is the character of Hal Jordan. He never did anything to make me like him. I sympathized with him, due to his dad dying and being suddenly thrust into this world

I sympathized with him, due to his dad dying and being suddenly thrust into this world where he's supposed to be a hero, but I didn't like him. Sympathy isn't enough. He was just a whiny, obnoxious character throughout the entire movie, complaining that he can't do it, how he always "walks away" from things. And he never saved a single person's life apart from Blake Lively up until the finale. The only fight he had in the movie that wasn't with a super-villain or another Green Lantern was with a bunch of guys who lost their jobs BECAUSE OF HAL JORDAN. I want my heroes heroic, not obnoxious and childish.

Not terrible but...

SO the pacing was off, their wasn't much of a story, not a lot of motivation for the characters actions, and poor editing, but..... I feel there is a lot of potential for an excellent sequel. It did a really good job with the feel of the world and the ring effects were handled really well. I hope it makes bank so we can see much better sequels in the future.

Count me in as another that doesn't understand the hate. It's not the best superhero movie ever, but it kept me entertained. It's definitely no Ghost Rider, as some reviews have made it out to be. Even with it's flaws, what happened to enjoying a movie at face value? Do the small problems ruin the experience as a whole? Too many people are TOO critical. GL set out to entertain and it did just that.

there's a turd in the punchbowl

The script was just so bad. I just dont get how a bunch of producers could read a script like that come together and not have any issues with it. It was all over the place, the dialogue felt like it was written by a high school kid making youtube sketches. I would have assumed that just one of them would have stepped up and just said, "come on guys, really". and maybe somebody did and he became the turd in the punchbowl, who knows. It was entertaining during the action sequences but it could

There have been FAR WORSE comic book movies.

For me, it was moderately good but definitely not great. The script was thinly written and characters needed to be fleshed out more. Its just too much to pack into a 114 minute movie. Something tells me that 30 minutes were left on the cutting floor. But Ryan Reynolds is Hal Jordan/Green Lantern just as much as he is the Flash and Deadpool. Mark Strong was SPOT FUCKING ON as Sinestro. If you're looking to take your kid to the theater or are just looking for a little bit of fun, then, by all

But if you're expecting Dark Knight or First Class material, you're better off skipping this. It was ok and could've been a lot better but, to me, it doesn't deserve the amount of hate its getting.

I hope the producers and writers can take a step back after this and work on what needs to be fixed so that they can deliver a proper sequel that we all deserve.

I really enjoyed this movie and I don't get the public or critical hatred for it at all. As many other enlighted MFC fans have said, there have been far worse. This movie has a 25% on Rotten Tomatoes which I find mind boggling. Using that logic shouldn't Spawn, Catwoman or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen all be -100%'s?

lantern

thought this movie was really good. i can't believe i'm saying this but the only negative i have is that it was too much blake lively and not enough action. though origin movies usually are kind of slow but overall the visuals, the oath, the jets at the end. thought it was great. can't believe this was post converted. it was done so well that it never felt off. the 3d in this movie was the best use of 3d i've seen in a movie. including avatar.
