What do Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Schwarzenegger, and Leatherface have in common? Posters, of course!

10.11.2012

Aside from all of them being badasses, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the infamous Leatherface also have one more thing in common; they've all got new posters to share today!  While that may not be as exciting as the prospects of having them all in the same movie together, this will have to suffice.  Currently the New York Comic Con is happening and two exclusive posters for both Schwarzenegger's THE LAST STAND and ol' Leatherface's TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D have been released through the venue.

Meanwhile, Universal has debuted two new character posters for their upcoming musical adaptation of LES MISERABLES, one with Mr. Jackman and one with Mr. Crowe, respectively.  Scroll down to check 'em out!

Synopsis:

Lionsgate’s TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.  The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible.  Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends.  Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had.  After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D hits theaters on January 4, 2012.

Synopsis:

Les Misérables is the motion-picture adaptation of the beloved global stage sensation seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries and in 21 languages around the globe and still breaking box-office records everywhere in its 27th year.  On Christmas Day, the world’s longest-running musical brings its power to the big screen featuring an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

LES MISERABLES opens on December 25, 2012.

Synopsis:

Schwarzenegger stars as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere (Eduardo Noriega) is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

THE LAST STAND arrives on January 18, 2012.

Finally a great poster!

It's so refreshing to see a poster like the one for The Last Stand! No photoshopped crap, just some good old fashioned poster art done by a real artist! I for one hope we see more posters like this in the future.

Les Mis character posters!! I'd love it if all the other characters got a poster, like for superhero films, as well.

For Russell Crowe poster - "I am the law"? So Les Miserables is the musical version of Judge Dredd/Dredd? Hehe.

There's a line in the musical where Javert sings "I am the law and the law is not mocked!" - though I would pay good money to see him wear a Dredd helmet while singing "Stars".

So, The Last Stand poster is maybe one of the better official posters I've seen in some time (actually, I've seen a lot of good ones recently, mainly from Killing Them Softly and The Man With The Golden Arms), but is that likeness actually taken from the movie, or Terminator? Not that associating Arnie and his comeback with his most famous role is a bad idea really, after all, he's always playing Arnold no matter what, but I guess the part of me that didn't grow up worshipping these icons of

I'm just saying this for my own benefit, and not to take the piss out of what I do think is one seriously badass movie poster.

On another note, I'm guessing the Les Miserables posters include one international, because they have two different release dates on them.

Love them!

The TEXAS CHAINSAW poster is suitably menacing and rough, while the poster for THE LAST STAND is f***ing fantastic! A brave art-style choice for a main poster that communicates everything you need to know about the film while still being fun in and of itself.
