Which character could return for Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel?

Kingsman: The Secret Service Matthew Vaughn Colin Firth Samuel L. Jackson Taron Egerton

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY dominated the box office over Valentine's Day weekend, but KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE was no slouch either in second place, pulling in over $30 million in U.S. theaters. So far the Matthew Vaughn-directed comic book adaptation has grossed $85 million worldwide, and if it continues to perform well, there might be another movie.

While speaking with USA Today, Matthew Vaughn said a certain actor could return for the sequel, which is a bit of surprise, considering what happened to the character in the film. Why is it a surprise? Well, that would be a huge spoiler, so you know what that means. Yup, I'll meet back up with you after the KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE image below.

So after Colin Firth's Harry Hart brutally kills a bunch of hate group churchgoers (due to a signal that causes people to become uncontrollably violent), he is shot in the head by Samuel L. Jackson's Richmond Valentine. It was a very unexpected death (at least to those who haven't read the Mark Millar comic or saw those spoilery 2013 BTS pics), but Matthew Vaughn says he's trying to figure out a way for Firth to return in the sequel.

A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I’m coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I’ve got a feeling we’ll figure out a way for having Colin back.

Colin Firth's Hart could always appear in a flashback, but it's also possible the bullet didn't kill him. There wasn't a close up of his body after he is shot, and since he is a spy, maybe he had a gadget that saved his life. However, even if Firth does end up in the sequel, Vaughn says it will continue Eggsy's (Taron Egerton) story.

The sequel will be ‘This is the modern-day gentleman spy.’ Because Harry isn’t. Harry even says, ‘There is a reason why we’ve developed weak chins.’ He said that meaning, ‘Look at us, we need to get new blood into this system,’ and that’s what Eggsy is. I joke that we’ve made the prequel to the Eggsy movie.

While part of me feels that bringing Harry Hart back in a follow-up would lessen the impact of his shocking death in KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, I would love to see Colin Firth kicking ass again as Hart. Do you think Firth's character should stay dead, or do you want him to appear in the sequel?
