Who is Max Steel?

07.13.2009

When I was a kid (I still kind of am) I played with Barbie dolls and Easy-Bake Ovens. Perhaps that's why my face spent most of its time shoved into lockers. If I had spent my time playing with action figures like Max Steel, my fate may have been different. Alas. Paramount and uber-producer Joe Roth are turning the Max Steel action figure into a major motion picture, looking to capitalize on the recent trend of toys-turned-movies like the TRANSFORMERS series and the upcoming G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA. Max Steel is a 19-year-old extreme sports addict recruited by a top secret agency after an accident infects his body with nanobots, making him superhuman. Mattel introduced the character in the U.S. in 1999 as an action figure, and soon after in an animated series that ran from 2000-2002. A director and screenwriter are still needed. Got a resume?

Extra Tidbit: Max Steel is Latin America's No. 1 action figure.

Max Steel

Although the series wasn't that great, the CGI movies on the other hand were kind of epic especially when compared to Action Man's movies.

GOING TURBO!

I kinda enjoyed the show back in the days but I thought his disgiuse was stupid.

How retarded are people if they can't recognise you when you change your hair color?

it'll be interseting to see how they'll pull this one off and yes I agree Ryan Renolds would be perfect or better yet, this could be the role that could get Mathew McConaughey some respect from the guys! :P

Or if they are so desperate, get Nic Cage to be alternating between wigs.

I always thought the show was lame when I was a kid, so I highly doubt I'll be giving a shit about this.

This is the same crappy series that they tried to make as an animated series back in 2001. While they're at it, why not try to ressurerect Captain Action, if they want to put out some lame hero movie.

Wow, I'm old

I'm only 30, yet they're making movies out of action figures that I'm too old to have ever heard of?

This seems kind of silly. Making movies about action figures that are currently hot makes sense. Making movies about action figures that 30-somethings with disposable income will fondly remember makes a lot of sense. Making movies about action figures that will fondly be remembered only by poor college students and high school students who are still "too cool" for the toys of their

Making movies about action figures that will fondly be remembered only by poor college students and high school students who are still "too cool" for the toys of their childhood, though? I don't see the marketing rationale behind that.
