With the BOURNE series slumbering, all the studios are looking for their own commercially palatable espionage-loaded action-guy franchise.

CBS Films is trying to find the best candidate to exercise his trigger finger as CIA gunman Mitch Rapp, from Vince Flynn's bestselling series of Ludlum-like mainstream thriller books. According to Deadline, the studio has Gerard Butler in their sights, with Colin Farrell and Matthew Fox (whose schedule is about to become free of "Lost") also on their shortlist.

In CONSENT TO KILL, CIA assassin Mitch Rapp battles a Saudi billionaire bent on revenge, an ex–East German Stasi spy and a deadly husband-and-wife team of assassins. There's a $20-million contract out on Mitch's head, and to add injury to insult, he hurts his leg during a morning run. After a knee operation and an even more serious mishap, Mitch is out of the hospital and hot on the trail of the evildoers. Besides terrorists and assassins, Mitch has to deal with a difficult new director of intelligence, and a pregnant wife.

Antoine Fuqua, somehow still cruising on his TRAINING DAY success, is directing (I'm sure Paramount thought his SHOOTER was going to launch a franchise). Keanu Reeves and "Mad Men" star John Hamm were also previously in the Rapp mix.

Just my opinion...but it's a strong one...
Matthew Fox for Mass Effect, total agreement....now that's outta the way.

I'm all for Colin Farrell. The dude's an incredible actor and I dig his versatile choices, but he could handle a franchise as well. That being said I'm all for Colin in Consent because in comparision to the others mentioned he's the best and more importantly the youngest of the three. If you're gonna have...

If you're gonna have a franchise start them younger like Damon did with the Bourne series it let's them grow into their role more I think. Believe it or not I actually envision Farrell as the heir apparent to Daniel Craig's Bond....

Fox has already said...
(several times) after LOST wraps he's moving the family to Oregon and going to disappear for a while. No show he's going here.

Matthew Fox or Colin Farrell would be awesome in the role. Butler wouldn't be good in this, Im sorry I just don't think he's that good of an actor. He's alright he's just nothing special.

I'll say it again - I want to see Matthew Fox in a Mass Effect movie.

Re: Tidbit
I'd be happy to see Terry O'Quinn, Michael Emerson and Henry Ian Cusick in anything, and I think they have the chops for that too. Anyone else I can take or leave, tbh.

Re: Extra Tidbit

Matthew Fox probably has the most potential to make a "top notch" movie career for himself after the show ends, but I'd say - if he played his cards right - the same could be said for Josh Holloway.

Unfortunately, as great as they are in LOST, I think most of the cast are predominantly television actors and will remain so.

I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

please stay away, colin
being a fan of Colin Farrell for quite some time now, i would like to see him stay away from an action franchise being directed by Fuqua. even though it'll probably do well commercially, i don't want to see him locked up for a couple of films that might only be for the paycheck, especially what with all of the interesting movie roles he's been having recently. and the last thing Gerard Butler...

As long as there are so many sweet explosions they can cast a butcher down the street from my council flat named Brahim who is a 50 years old fat Morrocan and this movie will be so sweet... http://j.mp/bUIzKk

Mitch Rapp = Dane Cook of Action Heroes
Those Rapp novels SUCK. Implausible, childishly written, with hollow stereotyped characters, and a less than enlightened view of women (who typically only serve to cry, have babies and occasionally be raped by the bad guys.) Those expecting a new Bourne or Jack Ryan will be sorely disappointed. And if Fuqua is directing, he ain't gonna improve it much if 'Shooter' is any indication.

The premise can definitely work, will Hollywood fuck it up though? Only time will tell.

Farrel. no question.
I have to say, though i like his films, i'm very much over Gerard Butler. Colin Farrels got my vote, his project choices are more interesting.

I've always thought Mathew Fox deserved to become a huge movie star and thought he was going to when Party of Five ended. But for some reason he didn't. Hopefully, he will now with Lost now coming to an end.

Farell was never convincing as the young hot shot action star. I'll see Fox or Butler before Farell. And no I doubt any of the stars from Lost will have humongous careers after the show has finished.
