Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly will reunite for Devil's Night

Oct. 11, 2013by:

Buddies Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly have found a new project to collaborate on following their great comedic partnerships in TALLADEGA NIGHTS: THE BALLAD OF RICKY BOBBY and STEP BROTHERS. Thew new film is titled DEVIL'S NIGHT and will take the guys on a more action-oriented route.

DEVIL'S KNIGHT comes from writers Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul and will be produced by Will Ferrell's production company Gary Sanchez, alongside longtime collaborator Adam McKay. It remains unknown whether or not McKay will direct the duo as he has for their two prior films or simply serve as producer. What we do know is the plot of DEVIL'S NIGHT.

DEVIL'S NIGHT is set on October 30, when the real mischief and debauchery goes down. The unofficial holiday made Leonard and Gabe best friends as children, though it would eventually be responsible for tearing them apart. 15 years later, with Devils Night growing out of control, they must put their differences aside and reunite to save their neighborhood from utter destruction.

I think there are few actors who play as well together as Reilly and Ferrell. TALLADEGA NIGHTS was funnier than it should have been and STEP BROTHERS is just ridiculous. DEVIL'S NIGHT sounds like it could be the equivalent of THE WORLD'S END if handled properly. McKay has ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES releasing this Christmas so he could easily have this movie ready for next year. Stay tuned.

I must confess I still haven't seen Talladega or Step Brothers. Both are in my to-see list, as I am a fan of both actors (and Ferrell's other collaborations with McKay). I was about to mention the surface parallels with The World's End until I saw you already mentioned that. Anyway, always up for some Halloween-themed mayhem of this order.

So which one is it? Is it called 'Devil's Night' or 'Devil's Knight?... because, ya know, you called the movie by both names in the article.

After reading the plot description, I had a much different impression of the plot than something similar to This Is The End or The World's End. I thought it would be more about two guys taking on a bunch of punk kids on devil's night - pretty simple concept. But if there's anyone that can take that and turn it into comedic gold, it's probably Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.

Seriously

Did anyone actually watch Step Brothers? That movie was garbage. Talledega Nights was just so-so. Riley needs a Steve Brule movie way before these three team up to make more turds.

Wow, really? I know it's low brow humor, and I understand how people could get tired of Will Ferrell's humor - I agree Talledega Nights was just ok, better than a quite a bit of some of Ferrell's other starring roles (semi-pro, blades of glory, even the other guys) - but I absolutely loved Step-Brothers. I was laughing so loud and non-stop at the theater my girlfriend at the time was embarrassed and I'm sure I really irritated some people. Actually, I'd say step-brothers, though it's full of

Actually, I'd say step-brothers, though it's full of dick and other immature jokes (and I hated ALL of Kathryn Hahn's material), is actually a pretty smart film, and I like the entire concept of the two guys literally being man-children, which is pretty much what Ferrell and a lot of his friends usually play but not as clearly stayed. Though I'm not going to down vote you. To you, what are some of your favorite straight comedies? Specifically in the last 10-15 years?

Damn, I didn't down vote you and in the time it took me to write that you (or I guess I?) got -14.

Meh. I just don't find that movie funny at all. I love Anchorman, and John C. Reilly. I just thought step-brothers was not good at all. I figured I wouldn't make any friends with this post, but damn -25 is crazy.

I just want to know where McKay is on "The Boys"?

I'm all for these guys collaborating because it will be comedy gold any way you slice it, but after the opening of The Other Guys I want Mckay to make that comic into a flick so bad.

This sounds hilarious. Ferrell, Reilly, and McKay are like the American equivalent of Pegg, Frost, and Wright.

Wow. That is quite possibly the most ignorant thing I've ever seen you write. Pegg, Frost and Wright make hilarious and original movies. Movies like Step-Brothers don't even come close to what those three have done. McKay just tells the other two to act like buffoons for an hour and twenty minutes and morons like you eat it up with a spoon.

I think Pegg, Frost, and Wright come up with smarter humor, but Ferrell, Reilly, and McKay are just as good delivering the funny. Childish or not.

I think that's a HORRIBLE comparison sir. And that's with all due respect. Ferrell and Reilly are notorious for portraying hilarious man child's. While Pegg and Frost are more along the lines of a witty style of comedy. I do agree that both parties make some awesome comedies, but extremely irrelevant to compare each other to their cultural counterparts.

@Mickloud, hahaha I was thinking the same thing, plus it seems he has a real hard on for Wright and co.

a zombie movie, a homage to every action movie, and alien(?) robots taking over a town are now original ideas?? btw all three of those movies dont even match what Talladega Nights made at the box office, never mind adding Step Brothers and a third movie. I love the Wright movies but they dont touch Ferrell and Riley at their best
