Will & Grace's Sean Hayes will be Larry in The Three Stooges

Apr. 5, 2011by: George Merchan

Well, f*ck. So much for James Marsden.

According to Variety, Peter and Bobby Farrelly have found their Larry for THE THREE STOOGES in actor Sean Hayes, probably best known for the role of 'Jack McFarland' in NBC's television series "Will & Grace".

Hayes joins the recently confirmed Will Sasso ("MADtv") as Curly, but Variety has no further word on the role of Moe. Last we heard, Deadline was reporting that funnyman Hank Azaria was the frontrunner for the Stooge leader. Today's report simply states that the part is still out to actors. If there was any doubt about it before, there shouldn't be any now: Fox is really shooting for a cheap film here.

As has been previously reported, the PG-rated THREE STOOGES will be divided into three 27-minute segments and follow a tone similar in nature to the Farrellys' own DUMB & DUMBER. The film is scheduled for release sometime next year.
Extra Tidbit: If they don't cast Hank Azaria, my interest in this will likely plummet to zero. Which kills me because I f*cking LOVE The Three Stooges.

I'm not gonna speculate one way or another on this yet, but I would have rather had a bio pic. I do think Will Sasso is a funny guy.

Shoulda been Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards as the 3 Stooges. That would've been amazing.

Will Sasso as Curly? Huh, that's actually pretty good casting.

This reeks of 'I can TOO play a straight guy and here's proof!,' given the recent controversy, but we'll see. : /

I'm still onboard ...

So what if the big names dropped out? I would rather they find actors that look and act the part without overshadowing The 3 Stooges themselves. Hayes and Sasso have the comedic talent to pull it off as well as the look so I really don't see a reason to panic just yet. Just as long as there are enough "Nyuks" and eye pokes they should be just fine.

Yeesh

The casting for this movie sank through the floor in a very short period of time. I was impressed when it was Carrey, Penn, Benicio. Psyched when it was Knoxville, Samberg...and now the best i can manage is a meh, with or without Azaria. Started off as high-caliber slapstick...now its the ABC movie of the week. Considering the Farrellys have never before had trouble signing A-listers, I'm guessing there's massive script problems.

Moe

is gonna have to be a pretty prominent actor. I know nothing about this guy other than his Will and Grace character looked like one of the most annoying in history, but that could speak volumes for his acting, who knows. All I know is Joe Schmo isn't lining up to see Sean Hayes and Will Sasso in a movie, even in an established brand.

This is interesting, but the part that I am most excited for is Sasso.

Plus+

They shouldn't have trailers for this movie. Just make mini episodes and put them on beginning of movies in theaters.

Come on...

1.Its Three Stooges, cant really have it be a rated R movie.
2. Hayes could do well, he's good with the slapstick comedy.
3. Hank Azaria should be Moe. No doubt about it. And if some freak situation he cant, Knoxville would be great at it.
4. I have no idea why I numbered these.

I was thinking they would probably be thinking Sean Hayes once Sean Penn dropped out. It was only a matter of time.

What a fucking joke

A PG Farrelly brothers movie is not something I want to see. That is like saying let's remake every awesome movie from the 80's. Oh wait. This movie is going to be a fail. FUCK!
