Will Simon Pegg make an appearance in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII?

Jun. 12, 2014by: Jesse Giroux

Here's a delicious rumor to start your day. Sources have told IGN Middle East Simon Pegg was on the STAR WARS: EPISODE VII set in Abu Dhabi, and shot scenes for a "secret role" in J.J. Abrams' upcoming film. However, before some of you get too excited, don't forget what Pegg has previously said about possibly starring in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII.

I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting.

Perhaps Simon Pegg changed his mind, or maybe he was just visiting J.J. Abrams on the Abu Dhabi set since he worked with Abrams on the STAR TREK flicks and is a huge STAR WARS fan. While I doubt he will have a big role in EPISODE VII, I could see him doing a cameo, or hanging out in the background of a random scene in the film. We probably aren't going to get a confirmation or denial from either J.J. Abrams or Simon Pegg, so we're likely going to have to wait until the movie is released before we know if there's any truth to this rumor.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII will open on December 18, 2015.

If I knew JJ, I would have been down on my knees BEGGING for any involvement. I'm sure it will just be the equivalent of an extra hanging out in the background.

Oh great, the Star Trek Star Wars crossover we have all been waiting for. I. Have. A. Bad. Feeling. About. This.

I'd love for Pegg and Frost to show up in a cameo as aliens, in full prosthetic makeup. It could be the kind of thing where you could've sworn you knew who these guys are, but it only hits you later.

If it happens,

I suspect it'll be the equivalent of Stephen Colbert's cameo in THE HOBBIT: DESOLATION OF SMAUG. It would be cool, though.

Please no

I LOOOVE Simon Pegg. But shoehorning in a cameo will detract from the movie (unless its unrecognizable like in Land of the Dead). If they shoehorn him in. Itll be as distracting as Brad Pitt showing up at the end of 12 years a slave and will take/pull me out of the world of Star Wars. This is NOT the movie to do it in.

Since Pegg's known for being a fanatic of the original trilogy, I'd love it if they gave him a unrecognizable cameo similar to what Joss Whedon did with his Whedonverse actor, Alexis Denisof, in The Avengers

Pegg's cameo in Cubar Fury was hilarious. So long as he has no lines, it will be considered a pure/true cameo, and I'm down for it.
