Will Sylvester Stallone’s next film be the equivalent of Rambo vs Predator?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Sylvester Stallone is experiencing a career renaissance. Since making RAMBO, ROCKY BALBOA, and the pair of EXPENDABLES movies, the world is finally putting some faith in Sly and not forcing him to the purgatory of direct to home video hell.

When it comes to future projects, Stallone has BULLET TO THE HEAD and THE TOMB slated for 2013 and he could then potentially begin working on RAMBO V as he has long hinted.

Expendables Premiere, the site that shared their desire to see John Woo directed THE EXPENDABLES 3, is “reporting” that Stallone’s next project may be HUNTER, which he has been trying to make for quite some time.

HUNTER would be based on the novel by James Byron Huggins and has an appropriately Stallone-esque plot: Nathaniel Hunter could track anyone, or anything, on Earth. Now the military desperately needs him for a mission that his ultra sensitive instincts tell him he should refuse. A beast is loose somewhere north of the Arctic Circle. It has already decimated a secret research facility and annihilated a squad of elite military guards. And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation. It is a job Hunter cannot turn down, but he soon discovers that his prey is terror incarnate, a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments. It has man’s cunning, a predator’s savageness, and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Hunter survives its unrelenting hunger for human blood, he’ll still have to confront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

Other sites are beginning to pick up on the story despite the shaky proof that the fansite claims is from Yahoo. At this point, we know Stallone has the rights to the movie and if in fact this would be his next project, the earliest we would see it would be 2014. The question would be whether Stallone would make HUNTER or incorporate the novel into RAMBO V. I would love to see John Rambo make that final leap from action hero to superhero and see him do battle with the creature from that plot description. What do you guys think?
