Will The Enchantress be the main villain in the sequel to Marvel’s Thor?

Aside from the directing chair shuffle of Patty Jenkins (MONSTER) for Alan Tayler (Game of Thrones) we haven’t heard a whole Hell of a lot from the THOR 2 camp. We know that Chris Hemsworth is returning to the titular role, as well as Tom Hiddleston as his conniving brother, Loki and that the film will focus on the relationships between Thor and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as well as the dynamic between the two brothers.

Well, according to sources for Bleeding Cool, The Enchantress is most certainly in the film…but does that mean she’ll be the main villain?

“Some of it we have to keep under wraps for now, but I can say, and with the utmost confidence, that you should expect to see The Enchantress in the film.”

Fans of the comic will know that The Enchantress (also known as Amora) and Loki work in cahoots on a regular basis and that she has a certain affinity for the God of Thunder. She is also typically partnered with the villain known as The Executioner, which could also be a lead to who we may see in the sequel.

To take speculation further, The Enchantress and The Executioner were banished to Earth by Odin at one point, where they teamed up with a number of supervillains to form The Masters of Evil, which act as a kind of “antithesis” to THE AVENGERS

Could this be more of Marvel’s frameworking at play, leading to the next Avengers event? Anything’s possible at this juncture as Marvel is keeping details sparse on the Thunder God’s sequel.  Currently, Robert Rodat is working on a rewrite and filming is expected to begin in London this summer.

THOR 2 is slated to open on November 15, 2013
