Will there be a sixth installment of Die Hard? All signs point to yes.

Feb. 6, 2013by: Niki Stephens

Here's some quick and dirty news for ya.

While doing the press rounds for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, Bruce Willis was asked on BBCs One Show if a sixth DIE HARD installment was going to happen. This is what he told them with a smile on his face:

"Yes."

That's all I got. Really.

What will the next installment be about? Will any other McClane's show up? Gramps McClane? How much harder can one DIE HARD? These are all valid questions. I don't know if any of this will pan out, but if A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD does well then you can count on another. Plus, who am I to argue with Bruce Willis? F*cking nobody. I'm wondering how good the fifth film will be with the R-rating and what not.

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD will release on February 14, 2013.

It's gotta be called "Old Habits Die Hard"

and you gotta bring back Samuel L Jackson, and the bad guy's gotta be Liam Neesons.

Neesons & Willy?
THAT WOULD BE
MAH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

It wasn't John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard, it was Bruce Willis. Judging by the trailers and early reviews the same thing is happening again.

you hit the nail right on the head. I wanna see McClane come back, and not just another Bruce Willis action film.

heres the thing

they need to back off this desire to make McClane so damned invincible. in these last two flicks, he's been more of the lamely wise ass unkillable hero and less the banged up but determined NY sewer rat that he was in the first trilogy. Die Harder had its problems but that McClane was far closer to the ideal than we've seen since Vengeance. they want to keep going bigger but when you start out blowing up a building and end the trilogy ransacking NY and parts of Canada, you gotta think the next

Sargeant Powell...Al Powell

That's what we need more of. Maybe McClane goes back to LA to fix shit with his wife (I don't remember the fourth too well, so I forgot if there was any sort mention in there - but they were "sorta separated" in the third), and meets up with Powell again. Then shit happens and those two hit the streets like Jackson and Willis in the third. The only physical interaction between the two happened when they met at the end of the first movie and Powell iced Karl. We could go back to basics and have

I remember reading that Bruce Willis said a sixth Die Hard would be the last.

I regret to say I just saw the film last night and agree with Bigjohnson4you. I was extremely disappointed as I was actually looking forward to it and thought the trailers looked cool, but at the end I was just bewildered. Tons of shaky cam, no memorable villains, derivative evil plot, McClane's son is not annoying but he is awfully bland...expect to hear me complaining a lot more about this film on the Strike

Glad we're on the same sheet of music. I would've walked out if I wasn't part of a group of friends who went to see it. Christ, I mean a veteran actor like Willis should have some pull about the direction or script. Did he even screen moore's resume. Also, Willis normally has great comedic timing, but the jokes here felt so forced. They were literally cringe inducing. and trying to play up the father son bond was so contrived. Plus at an hour and 30 minutes, there isnt a whole lot of time

Plus at an hour and 30 minutes, there isnt a whole lot of time to spend on the characters, just one misguided set piece to another. Especially the first car chase sequence, and the risible dialogue, god i could go on for days about how shitty this movie was, even by handheld camcorder homemovie standards, The chemistry between him and Sam Jackson in the 3rd was electric and hilarious. Just bring him back and hit up John mctiernan when he gets out of the slammer.

Yeah, this movie made me really miss Samuel L Jackson and all the things that were wonderful about Die Hard With A Vengeance. It sucked all the life and spark out of the series, and it felt like one of the most iconic action heroes in recent memory had been plopped into a soulless, assembly-line action flick. It's kind of lazy to have the son be the sidekick, but even then there's lots of potential with a character like that - which is completely squandered. I can't say too much yet because

I can't say too much yet because reviews have been embargoed until it gets released in the States (and because spoilers), but there's a shot towards the end that homages one from the first Die Hard - which I thought was cool for about a second, and then realised I found it insulting. Insulting that McClane had fallen so far. And I actually liked Live Free or Die Hard!

I think Die Hard 5 looks good and will hopefully breathe new life into the franchise. But I have to wonder where and how he gets into another situation like the previous five?

I would love for Sam Jackson's character to come back somehow then.

i can pretty much already tell you to expect more of "Live Free or Die Hard" and not so much "Die Hard". But thats not necessarily a bad thing. If nothing else, it'll be a fun action movie. Maybe next time they'll hire a new director. Someone that can be the Mendes of this franchise

That's a shame to hear. I just don't understand why they can't make another Die Hard movie that's in the same vein as the original trilogy.

I enjoyed Live Free, but it didn't have the nostalgia like the first three had.

I want more reluctance from John McClane. I want more selfishness, and that what makes him a great character. That's why I love Die Hard. I hope A Good Day has it, and the next one as well.

If a sixth one happens I hope he goes back to the receding hairline look. Someone on here said something that makes perfect since if you think about it. They said it seems that whenever Bruce is in a role where he has hair it's like a switch goes off in his head. He then realizes he's not himself anymore, that he's playing a different person. He acts different from all the action films where he has the bald head. They said that if Stallone went bald you wouldn't see him playing Rambo, or Rocky

Well if the Fast & Furious can reach 6 films, why can't Die Hard & John McClane? I just hope they don't turn him into a caricature as it feels these newer Die Hards are pinning him as.

I'm actually amped to see a A Good Day to Die Hard next weekend. Looks fun, and more traditional to the first three installments. If AGDtDH does well, Bruce Willis will prove he's still got mojo as an aging action hero (whereas Arnold and Sly failed miserably recently), which of course would inevitably lead to more installments

Bruce for another Die Hard

Yippee-ki-yay ! I don't see anything wrong with another DIE HARD movie...heck based on the trailer for DIE HARD 5, I would welcome DIE HARD 6. That being said, I think DIE HARD 6 should be the last one....why? cause as much as Bruce Willis is a good action actor, his ablility to kick butt and run around become a little less believable,
Should DIE HARD 6 happen...he should def go out on top!

Die Hard 6 - Hardly Die Hard

This 5th one isn't going to be very good. If the series jumped the shark last time around, then this one will be nothing but horribly CGI'd Bruce Willis doing bad action shots for trailers... It just doesn't even look interesting anymore.

Worst fuckin movie committed to celluloid SPOILER ALERT!,,,

Saw this opening day here in Korea. John Moore doesn't instill a lot of confidence but I fk it, it's die hard. How bad could it possibly be? Imagine having rickets in your Shaft and getting double penetrated in your dickhole by a dull blade. It would still be less painful than sitting through this embellished turd. McClain is reduced to a simpleton with lines like " I'm on vacation" , "come on" ," yea fist pump!!!!!". Not in the spirit of die hard, action is ludicrous and absurd, nothing

I can honestly say, without equivocation, that this is the worst fucking train wreck of a movie I have ever seen. Avoid at all coats .

There was never a need for a Die Hard 2...

So why are we even having this conversation? Die Hard will always be my favourite 'Christmas film' (Home Alone was basically Die Hard remade yeah?) but all the sequels have been lacking, even the best of them - Die Hard 3, I enjoyed it, but it was more try hard then die hard; first film villian's brother, bi-racial buddy flick...nothing wrong with that but all it did was fill the void of Lethal Weapon & prepare us for Shanghai Noon & Rush Hour.

I think there were better ideas for sequels in

I think there were better ideas for sequels in the blatant knock offs i.e Con Air & Air Force One, the latter could easily be rewritten to suite the McClane story arc.

Die Hard 4 was too over the top (a previous comment mentioned Bruce in CGI'd action scenarios), it's as if they're coming up with 'awesome looking scenes/scenarios' and writing around them to fit, the car crashing into the car in the tunnel in DH4 is great example. "Hey we got some new software, it'll allow a 3d model car to look like it crashes into a superimposed helicopter"..."Cool, o.k so what plot changes do we need to make to get that shot in there?". That's the direction it's going, which saddens me. End rant.
