Will Tom Cruise be bringing Les Grossman back to the big screen?

As a lifelong fan of Tom Cruise, I’m very happy to see this burgeoning revival of the man’s career. In terms of publicity, the man had fallen hard over the past five years or so, and his movies weren’t exactly lighting shit up on fire.

That is, of course, until he made a small little turn in Ben Stiller’s 2008 comedy TROPIC THUNDER as the grotesque, malevolent, and goddamn awesome Les Grossman. If you don’t know, now you know.

And exactly how awesome was Cruise as Grossman? Awesome enough that the guy brought back the character – 2 years later! – to this past weekend’s MTV Movie Awards and shook his ass alongside Jennifer Lopez and, by pretty much all accounts, stole the show. Cruise’s reception was so well-received that the actor’s upcoming action-comedy KNIGHT AND DAY is now looking to go from sleeper hit to potential big-time moneymaker. How funny is this industry?

But what Cruise as Grossman this past weekend also demonstrated was that there is perhaps an audience for this character. When asked about whether we’d be seeing Grossman in his own film, Cruise told E! Online’s Marc Malkin “We’re working on it. Yup, we’re working on it.”

Much as I like Cruise, though, would the character Les Grossman be able to carry an entire film on his own? Let us know what you think below!
