Magnolia has released a trailer for THE HUNTER just a day after our exclusive poster. As great as that poster is there's nothing like seeing the film in action, although I have the sneaking suspicion that the editing and music makes it seem a lot more action-packed than it really is. Especially since the film's about Dafoe going off into the woods by himself.

THE HUNTER is the story of Martin (Dafoe), a skilled and ruthless mercenary sent into the Tasmanian wilderness on a hunt for a tiger believed to be extinct. Hired by an anonymous company that wants the tiger’s genetic material, Martin arrives in Tasmania posing as a scientist. He proceeds to set up base camp at a broken-down farmhouse, where he stays with a family whose father has gone missing. Usually a loner, Martin becomes increasingly close to the family; however, as his attachment to the family grows, Martin is led down a path of unforeseen dangers, complicating his deadly mission.

The film also stars Sam Neil and Frances O'Connor and comes to us from the producers of ANIMAL KINGDOM, so if you're one of the many people that love that film, it's time to get excited.

THE HUNTER hits theaters April 6th.

This looks SICK.
Plus I have a fascination with more "recent" extinct animals. (Like in the last couple of hundred years or so)

From someone that dosnt know much about that tiger, I gotta say it didnt look very threatening and I thought they were trying way too hard to put the fear in us.

It seems like we're meant to be afraid of human characters who are trying to kill Dafoe.

It doesn't look like it's about anything. Maybe if they tried putting together a coherent trailer...

Looks good! Though i hope they don't do something cliche like completely forget about the tiger to shift the story to HIM being hunted. I still wanna see the tiger. Looks good though!
