Witness a dinosaur and his pet human in this trailer for The Good Dinosaur

What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? THE GOOD DINOSAUR looks to answer this question as an Apatosaurus named Arlo attempts to make his way back to his family with the accompaniment of a young boy. Humans are not the top of the food chain in this latest trailer!

THE GOOD DINOSAUR looks like a "more than a capable" animated flick, although parts of the trailer echo other great animated films. There's bits of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON and LION KING sprinkled throughout. We've heard about this movie's somewhat troubled production, so perhaps that's why this feels a little cookie-cutter? In any case, dinosaurs are kind of a big deal this year so I'm sure Pixar will do fine with this entry.

THE GOOD DINOSAUR will open in theaters on November 25, 2015.

This looks good and everything. But I'm still torn on why they need the whole "meteor never killed dinosaurs" angle? Other than dinosaurs being able to talk through evolution, I can't think of the need for it. Without the "meteor never killing dinosaurs" angle, it would not be the first time a movie had talking dinosaurs for no reason. Hell this is the same production company that brought us Toy Story, and they never bothered to explain how all the toys could talk. So I dunno, just seems

So I dunno, just seems like a useless plot point to include in the movie. Could have told the same story without it.

It also explains away the complaint that humans and dinosaurs never walked the earth at the same time.

Yea that makes sense. And I guess with a few extra thousand years to evolve and get the ability to talk/think, it explains why the humans are like rabid animals - they're still at the beginning of their evolution.

I really liked that

Some really great, heartfelt moments there. Even if it turns out to be second-tier Pixar (like BRAVE or A BUG'S LIFE), that's still better than most movies out there. Besides, any time Pixar brings out an original movie, it's worth celebrating.
