Wolvie update

David Benioff (TROY) originally wrote the script for the WOLVERINE movie, but since then Skip Woods (HITMAN) has been brought on to re-write the thing. The LA Times has a piece on the chaos that the allegedly impending strike is having on WOLVERINE and movies like ANGELS AND DEMONS and the Pitt-Norton re-teaming, STATE OF PLAY; Just last week, 20th Century Fox issued an announcement that the studio was laying claim to May 1, 2009, as the release date for its big-budget sci-fi spinoff “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” starring Hugh Jackman. This was just days after it issued an urgent SOS to the major agencies looking for a quick rewrite person. I don’t really know how long people take to write or re-write scripts, perhaps it’s different from person to person, but I certainly don’t like the idea that something as potentially cool as the WOLVERINE movie might be hampered by a script that was cracked out just to beat the deadline of October 31st. In other news, the young Wolvie (presumably for flash-backs or an introductory piece, or both) has been cast. Kodi Smit-Mcphee (ROMULUS, MY FATHER), another Aussie will bare the kiddie-claws in the prequel to be directed by Gavin Hood (RENDITION).
