Woody Allen's next gets an interesting title and a full cast

Jun. 20, 2011by: Niki Stephens

That untitled Woody Allen film starring Penelope Cruz finally has a title-- THE BOP DECAMERON. The what huh?! It just makes me think of COWBOY BEBOP. Sorry, I just want more episodes.

Anyway, the film has finally found it's full cast as well. In addition to Cruz, Alec Baldwin and of course Allen, also joining is Roberto Benigni, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, Ellen Page and Alison Pill. There is still no plot.

Production will begin on July 11th and this will be Allen's first time shooting in Rome.

Cruz said this on the project back in April, I know [what I'm doing next], but the thing is that I have to ask the director what I can say and what I cannot say. Because hes very secretive. Itsits a movie with Woody Allen. But I really cannot say anything about the story or the characters.

Extra Tidbit: I will always remember Roberto Benigni for loosing his shit at the Oscars.

Based on how good I found his newest movie, I am actually looking forward to an Allen film for the first time in years.

Hate to be 'that guy', but...

...the title was announced... over a month ago, I think.
Anyway, I love that Woody is so secretive with his work - each time I view a new film of his I'm in for all kinds of surprises. I thought "Midnight in Paris" was going to focus on romantic comedy. I thought "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger" was to be some kind of thriller. I don't even know what I thought "Scoop" was going to be. I'm always so pleasantly surprised, and for my money, I feel Woody's been putting out the best films of

The Decameron

Don't know where the Bebop stuff comes from but The Decameron is a collection of stories by Boccaccio widely praised as among the greatest pieces of literature.
Allen's film will be a series of short vignettes loosely based on these novellas, some featuring only Italian actors....
Makes me kinda wonder who does the research for these articles..
