Woody Harrelson to play another detective in John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Woody Harrelson recently received a lot of attention for his fantastic performance as Detective Marty Hart on HBO's True Detective, and according to  Deadline, he'll appear as Sergeant Detective Jeffrey Allen in John Hillcoat's TRIPLE NINE. Harrelson's Allen is the uncle to Casey Affleck's cop character in the upcoming film, and the two actors previously worked together in last year's OUT OF THE FURNACE.

John Hillcoat has one hell of a cast lined up for his new movie. TRIPLE NINE also stars Aaron Paul, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Peña, Teresa Palmer and Gal Gadot.

Synopsis:

In the drama, a crew of dirty cops are blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down”. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.

Between the amazing cast and John Hillcoat behind the camera, I'm pretty much already sold on TRIPLE NINE. I'm a huge fan of Hillcoat's THE ROAD and THE PROPOSITION, and I'm very excited to see what he's going to do with these great actors in his new movie.

TRIPLE NINE should be in theaters sometime in 2015.
