Word on Boyle's next

06.09.2009

This year's thoroughly deserving Oscar winning director Danny Boyle will be making a film out of the Pulitzer Prize-shortlisted novel "Maximum City", SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE screenwriter Simon Beaufoy has revealed. He also talked a little about the work that he will have to, essentially creating a narrative arc out of a book that is really more of a tribute to the city of Mumbai:

"It was only decided a couple of weeks ago, but I will be writing the script for Danny... Maximum City is a non-fiction work, so it will be a huge challenge to find the story in it. It is a wonderful book and I used it in my initial research for Slumdog. There are some great characters in the book, but no stories, so my job will be to get the fictional out of a non-fictional story."

I'm a little surprised that Boyle is racing to jump back into this region after the kind of shit he has had to, and still continues to deal with in regards the people of Mumbai, but there ya go. I guess it's never been up for debate that Boyle has a sense of humor. Remember THE BEACH? Ha ha, just kidding. No but seriously I hate that film.

aaahh !

Such a talented director as dany boyld should not wast his time on that kind of movie. I liked slumdog but check back Sunshine and 28 days later and any of his previous work. This is sad because he's one of a few directors that are able to make great fiction movies.

I liked The Beach

I like all of his movies. What I liked about The Beach was the whole paradise lost theme of it all. They found the perfect place but it was not so perfect. I still enjoy watching it. As for the sequel to Trainspotting, Ewan has still been saying no to it.

i loved slumdog but idk about having another film in the city region immediately following it. i, like drc5145, would really like to see 28 months later.

I'm game for it. I liked Slumdog and the way he shot the city of Mumbai, and the premise is quite different than Slumdog.

And I don't want a sequel to Trainspotting. I'd much rather have him direct 28 Months Later, as previously rumored...

Dude, I think he was referring to Thoo's extra tidbit.

Danny Boyle is a very talented guy, and I've enjoyed all his films to varrying extents (some much more than others), I wish he would've made Pont Tower his next though.

BTW...

it's not attacking you I'm just curious.

The film will most likely be good, The Mumbai people will be happy...Boyle wins another Oscar...Mumbai people will be pissed because they expect more from a british director....like money.

Excuse Me...

@ Private...because they're but set in Mumbai or because they're both have main characters who are Indian... These are two very different stories. Slumdog is a about a Indian kid goin on India's version of who wants to be a millionaire and flashbacks back to a love story. This will be a about a Indian man who left Mumbai for a better life in the States and comes back during the Bombay bombings....

How are they similar?

And the Beach and Sunshine were ok...Trainspotting and 28 days later

hmm I always liked his eclectic range of films and this just seems a lil too similar to Slumdog, still I'm sure he'll deliver a solid film
