Would you cast any of these four actors for the part of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

The Amazing Spider-Man chest closeup

When last we heard from the Harry Osborn casting front, three actors were in the running for a part hat had slowly been shifted from one which "called for a bigger, athletic actor" to one that had subsequently been "reconfigured and [was] now targeting a more 'dark and edgy' actor."  They were Dane DeHaan (CHRONICLE, LAWLESS), Brady Corbet (MELANCHOLIA, THUNDERBIRDS), and Alden Ehrenreich (TETRO, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES), and none of them seemed to excite you very much.  Well I have four new names for you today, four more gentlemen the studio is testing that seem to better balance between the original description of Harry Osborn and the way he has been subsequently taken in the rewriting of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

And so, our new crop of possible Harrys includes Sam Claflin (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES), Eddie Redmayne (LES MISERABLES, WAR HORSE), Douglas Booth (NOAH, LOL), and Boyd Holbrook (THE HOST, "Hatfields & McCoys").  It is unclear at this time if the original trio of Dehaan, Corbet, and Ehrenreich is still under consideration, or if the newly-rumored focus on "athleticism and good looks" is truly the new template then they may be out of the running in favor of the new four.

Either way, casting seems to be happening in relative earnest.  Hopefully we'll have more news for you soon regarding the final choice, as THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is gearing up to swing back into a cinema near you on May 2nd, 2014.

New Harry Osborn possibilities

Extra Tidbit: Claflin has already been cast as Finnick Odair in THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, which may work in his favor as his presence might work draw in the HUNGER GAMES crowd. That was the same hope (at least in part) that powered the casting of Kristen Stewart in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. Too bad the movie was a complete mess and yet somehow utterly completely forgettable.

Sam Clafflin and Eddie Redmayne appeared together in the mini-series The Pillars of The Earth. If you haven't seen it, check it out. In that show, both of these boyish actors show their leading man skills.

Out of the four new choices, Eddie Red maybe would be my pick. However, I have no desire to see this film.

Ehh...

My first reaction is a desire to punch that kid with the neck sweater in the face - am I the only one? After that, I remember that the last Spider-Man movie didn't do much for me anyway.

What is wrong with Hollywood these days with casting? They don't know what they are doing. All but one out of the seven would be an interesting choice for Harry Osborn and that is Dane Dehaan from Chronicle. On the other hand they really need to take the time to find that one that will blow their socks off. Honestly I think Hayden Christensen would be fantastic for the role, I mean look how he portrayed Anakin Skywalker in Episode 3? He can play the good guy turned bad. SO, CAST HAYDEN

I'm glad the character is going to be in the sequel(s), but I honestly like none of the choices above except for the guy in Snow White.

If he were younger I think Ian Somerhalder would make for a perfect Harry Osborn.

Actually...

Eddie Redmayne would be my choice. Just watched Black Death with him and Sean Bean and he seemed like a competent actor that could be a decent Harry.

Also to those griping, get over it. First off just cause Harry is there doesn't mean that hell be anything but Harry. And to anyone who wants to say going back to harry will just bring Norman as the Green Goblin as a bad thing is dumb. That s like saying to do a Batman series of movies but never have the Joker appear. It just won't happen, get

Firstly the amount of hate this gets always, is absurd. It reminds me of when a young person, or anyone, loses a father (in this case, the original spider-man trilogy) and their mother replaces their father too soon in their opinion with another man (in this case, the new spider-man). And even if this knew guy ends up positively wonderful, they'll hate it no matter what because it's not Sam Raimi.

Anyways, I still like Dane Dehaan best.

Dane DeHaan would be great - loved him in "Chronicle" and if they want to go in a darker, more edgier direction, DeHaan is your guy. He could bring a certain intensity that would make for a radically different Harry Osborn that was portrayed in Raimi's trilogy.

"Sir, we need to cast someone to play Harry Osborn."
"Okay. Bring all the guys who auditioned for Peter Parker but got rejected, let's audition them again."

Does anyone over 12 even care about that Spiderman version?

Who will play Harry Osborne? Who cares? Why not try working on a different character or story arc than say...the movies that came out like 5 years ago. Or even a different character than Spiderman? This is a story about a sequel to a reboot of an adaptation. The absolute height of Hollywood stupidity.

Why?

Why do they keep recasting this film? They might as well bring back green goblin, sandman, doc-oc, etc. Can we get a fresh idea that isn't a reboot? They really should have given Raimi another chance for Spider-man 4. To reboot a series after 10-years is the dumbest idea ever. Fuck this new series and fuck Lizards fucked up face.

Nope. They all look like hipster emo turds, girls with guys haircuts and so on...

I really hate this new spiderman series. Every time I hear something good about it (electro rumors) it gets bogged down by crappy casting and an obvious pander to hipster emo losers.
