Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Apr. 16, 2008

I WANT TO BELIEVE. No that's not the lede to my article but actually the title of X-FILES 2. Forget about that DONE ONE, that was a working title. The sequel is officially titled X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE. It's not exactly catchy in the way that FIGHT THE FUTURE was but it's what director Chris Carter wanted all along and he was finally able to convince Fox as they signed off on it earlier this week. Carter broke the news to the Associated Press in a brief interview yesterday where he said the title "suggests Mulder's struggle with his faith." Carter said while I was on set (read Part One of my report here) that he and co-writer Frank Spotnitz had settled on a title but that Fox still wasn't convinced. Apparently they were convinced and I'm not sure how they did it. I'm not sure I'm sold although the phrase is as iconic as the show. But that's just me - what are you guys thinking? Strike back below with your thoughts on THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE. To read the full AP report, click here to see what else Carter had to say.

Call it Whatever you Want
You can call it "X-Files: Chris Carter Is Bored So needs To Make Another X-Files" and I still would go see it. I just wished it would have been sooner.

Another Lazy Title!
I disagree with some of you guys, at least the Bond title sounds like a little thought went into it. I'm actually starting to dig how it sounds when someone says it. But like the recent FAST AND FURIOUS announcement, this just sounds like another lazy title.

HoyleHaw, that is indeed a catchier title in my opinion, even DONE ONE sounds a little bit better. "I Want to Believe"...

"The Truth is Out There" is a little more catchy in my opinion, but I agree with Prudnasty.

Eh. I guess I like it. Either way they got my money July, after I see TDK about seven or eight times.

It's more of a sentence than a title.

And, personally, I preferred the more oblique 'Done One' which at least had some mystery about it.

And Mulder's struggling with his beliefs? Y'mean, like, in UFOs and all that? How?!? He's not only seen 'em, he's been inside 'em too!

Hopefully, this'll all make sense after I've seen the actual movie.

i think a lot of my opinion on the title depends on the final product. It certainly is a nice cap off for the franchise. And i think its better than curse of the werepeople. I

WTF???!!!
"I WANT TO BELIEVE"????!!!

Is that the best they can come with with? Geez. This is almost as bad as those X-Men sequel subtitles (I still refer to them as "X2" and "X3". I might do the same with this.)
