X-Men: First Class gets a mutant from the Twilight movies

While that goofy idea Bryan Singer had about Taylor Lautner showing up as young Wolverine in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS never became reality, the prequel is getting another cast member from the TWILIGHT franchise instead.

Deadline says that Edi Gathegi (who played vampire henchman Laurent) will join Matthew Vaughn’s movie as someone named Darwin. He’s “the first bi-racial mutant, has the power of ‘reactive evolution,’ which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment. Plunged underwater, he’ll grow gills, he’ll gain night vision in pitch black and his skin grows fire retardant when burned.”

I’m not familiar with the character — he must’ve appeared after I’d given up on the increasingly convoluted X-Men comics. You can find some wiki on him RIGHT HERE.

Gathegi, who might be better known to non-Twihards as gangsta Cheese in GONE BABY GONE, the deputy from MY BLOODY VALENTINE or a doctor on “House”, joins James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee and Lucas Till as Havok. Kevin Bacon is playing the villain, identity as yet undisclosed.

Seems as though Cyclops is the only major mutant still uncast (looks like the Aaron Johnson rumors were untrue).
