X-Men News: The Wolverine gets a new synopsis and Bryan Singer promises what will not be in Days of Future Past

With Fox trying to get their Marvel properties in order, we may be on the verge of their most successful run of good movies ever. The first one we will get is THE WOLVERINE from director James Mangold. This new synopsis does not give much more detail but does reinforce what Mangold and Hugh Jackman shared during their Q&A a few weeks ago.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

I doubt they are incorporating Logan losing his adamantium claws into the story, but you never know. I am hoping they came up with something good and not just referring to the romantic subplot from the comic arc.

THE WOLVERINE will open on July 26th 2013.

The other bit of news should come as a sigh of relief for many fans. It was recently announced that X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST would employ Louise Mingenbach as costume designer. For those of you who do not know who she is, just know that she worked on X-MEN and X2. Yes, that is right, she is the person who created the black leather uniforms. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have a problem with the black outfits. We got the yellow and black costumes in FIRST CLASS which looked exactly like the comics. I think that fans are just disappointed that the iconic individual costumes from the comics have not made an appearance yet.

Director Bryan Singer must have heard the Internet outcry and took to Twitter to confirm that the black leather costumes would not be returning for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. You can all now relax.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will be released leather free on July 18, 2014.
