X-Men still coming

09.17.2009

Update: Apparently, Tim's Twitter account was hacked into and he did not post the comment about X-Men. Here's what he had to say about it, "victim of cruel prank.last tweet=NOT me.AM filming Aussie show till2010.no official word on XM:FC but am interested."

X-MEN FIRST CLASS is not going away, no matter how much the fans might want it to.

It's been awhile since anything was brought up about actually making a FIRST CLASS movie. I seriously thought for a bit that they just were going to forget about the project all together, but they didn't. The youngster Cyclops from WOLVERINE: ORIGINS, Tim Pocock revealed from his Twitter account that next year it would begin, "Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010...then X-men first class." He adorably followed the news with a wink smiley face to smooth things over.

X-Men was my first favorite comic book, but as of late I've really lost interest in any of the mutant story arcs except for ASTONISHING X-MEN. I can't say that I'm up for any more disappointments when it comes to X-Men movies. The first one was good, the second one was great, and the third one really lost me. There was so much going on that my brain temporarily shut off while watching it.

It also seems a bit bothersome that Josh Schwartz (THE O.C., GOSSIP GIRL) is writing the script. If you're doing anything teen related that you want to be a hit, he's the guy to go to. Does this mean that Cyclops will be more emo? Oh shit.

PASS...

Even if this turned out to be a bogus Tweet, I'm sure the film is getting made. I loved the first two X films to death, but I dunno...when Singer left, it seems the quality went with him.

Tim just confirmed via Twitter that he's not confirmed for FIRST CLASS. He claims he was the victim of a prank (his last tweet). He's still interested, though...

Uncanny Xmen was the best, sorry. Leave it alone. Don't make another one.

So I'm guessing the lineup will be: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Beast, and Storm (since everyone else would be far too young). And who wants to bet that there'll be a heavy focus on the Cyclops/Jean/Emma love triangle? Blegh.

BTW, writers, Emma's made out of diamond, not diamonds. Idiots.

I want x-men 4!

The x-men franchise has become a rubik's cube of problems, how do keep the story going without messing up what has been established. Magneto, first-class, wolverine 2 all seem mildly interesting because I'm an X-men fan, but I really feel X-men 4 would be the best option. However, Fox needs to decide if they want to reboot or keep in line with the previous movies because they can't do both.

I'm always in favor of more Nightcrawler. And for once I'd like an X-men movie that does Gambit

this could be cool

if they set it in the 50's/60's with Civil Rights undertones. kinda like the original comic series when it first came out. i'd like to see an x-men period piece. it'd be like Mad Men only with mutant powers.

but that's only if it's like a reboot. if they're keeping in line with the existing x-men movies, then this "first class" story would take place in like the early 90's?

Fox is not the problem. Bryan Singer leaving the franchise was the problem. They should start over from scratch (casting-wise and story-wise) and do the Onslaught storyline. Something more colorful and dramatic and futuristic, like the original X-Men comics!

It'll suck, end of arguement.

There should always be more Nughtcrawler, now that is truth. I think it's a bit shit that Nightcrawler, my favourite x man isn't going to turn up in a movie again.
I grew up reading X Men comics, loved the first two films, and I find it reall hard to get excited about this. You can say all you want about this, but it will be crap, Fox don't give a shit, they know people will go and watch this no matter what, they'll make money so why should they bother with making a decent film? They realised

They realised that with X men 3, and they'll be doing it for a long time, it's Fox we're talking about here, the same people who canceled Futurama at it's peak, but carried on with the simpsons as it was getting worse and worse.

LISTEN....

For all of you who have questions about the timeline and "how can they do this" and "how come the age difference" stuff..bear in mind that 80% of this entire series is screwed beyond repair on screen. So I suggest nobody care about supposed timelines...these guys can't even stick to their own on-screen installments let alone actual source material. As long as X-Men stays with Fox, it will continue to be a teen-driven franchise with cheesy lines and lots of mindless action; we'll never really

Who the fuck is Seth Cohen?

And another thing, so long as X-Men is in Fox's hands and not anyone elses, there's no hope anymore for a good movie for our beloved mutants.

Disney...come on now, you bought Marvel for a reason...GET X-MEN BACK ON TRACK!

HOW CAN THEY DO THIS?

...when they've already established that Iceman and Angel are not close to the same age as Cyclops, Jean Grey & Beast. What we'll end up with is another bastardized version of a Marvel Tale.

You know, that's crazy cuz I was JUST thinking that X-Men is great and everything, but just think of how amazing it could be with The OC's Josh Schwartz behind it!

I agree with the previous poster regarding taking a break from the X-Flicks. There's still a bad taste in my mouth from X-3 and Wolverine, and I don't really want to see kiddy X-Men, or X-Teens, or whatever the hell they're doing with this. Give the franchise a rest for a few years, then come back and do the Dark Phoenix Saga properly.

Chuck

People only associate Josh Schwartz with OC and GG. If you've ever watched Chuck, then you know this is a great person to write a comic book film. Im excited.

I wish Bryan singer would come back and make another X-men film, that'd be nice. I'm definitley not digging anything X-men related movies(First Class, Deadpool, another Wolverine) however like one dude said before me... Start with that Magneto movie, I'd like to see that

It looks like they don't know what to do with this franchise. I'm a big X-Men fan, and it hurts to see them dicking around with stuff like this instead of a proper sequel.

This could wind up good, I doubt it, but I just don't have any interest in another prequel. Skip the teen bullshit and give me some sentinels!

The big turnoff is Josh Schwartz writing the script. I'll be pretty pissed if it ends up being The OC version of X-Men. FUCK THAT SHIT.

XMFC

This better not be a reboot, you can't reboot the X-MEN franchise after having a glorious movie like X2 in the series, X3 is just a fuck up by FOX who went ahead and made the film without the brain of the first two (Bryan Singer)

Since FIRST CLASS is inevitable all I have left to do is support it, I'm a huge fan of the characters and the films.

I don't see how Nightcrawler would be in this film since they don't know who he is untill X2, but I do hope to see more of him in future films,

will Beast be blue in First Class? or will we have the hairless version?

I am really looking forward to FIRST CLASS. Anything focusing on the X-Men as a TEAM interests me. Hopefully it can be a semi-reboot for Fox to fix the problems the last trilogy had.

We've had four X-Men movies in less than a decade, I think it's time to take a break from this franchise for a while. I don't think people are that enthused about a Wolverine spinoff sequel, or a Deadpool movie (Just the fans, regular people don't really know anything about the character), or this First Class spinoff, which sounds like the worst idea possible. However, that Magneto spinoff that was discussed a while back might be interesting, if done right.
