Year One poster

Mar. 12, 2009by:

Our Mike Sampson went to check out the set for YEAR ONE and had a blast, so you can expect a report from him soon. Until then you'll have to make do with this first poster for the flick featuring Jack Black and Michael Cera.

I generally tend to dislike Jack Black since 99% of his act is being super duper outrageous or doing an air guitar and going rigagoogoo rigagoogoo/really high, and I dislike Michael Cera because I figure if not for his heel dragging we would already have an ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie, and the fact that he will be triumphantly macking on my girl in SCOTT PILGRIM. But for a movie starting two people I generally dislike, this actually looks pretty sweet.

Extra Tidbit: Cera auditioned for Haley Joel Osment's role in THE SIXTH SENSE.

I enjoy Jack Black, but seriously . .
Can he make any other sort of facial expression for his promotional materials?

Also I really don't like Cera. Like at all.

Michael Fuckin' Cera

Everybody wrote off his performance in Nick & Norah as another Superbad/Juno-type "geek" role, but did you guys actually watch it? He's totally different - and a reflection of what I think he's become in real life, after seeing interviews with him (and reading about his dismissal of an Arrested Development movie). He tries to act like some geeky hipster in Nick and Norah, but a geeky hipster who's kind of ironically cool (rather than just a helpless nerd a la Superbad). It's like watching some

It's like watching some ugly nerdy kid who thinks he's hot shit. Good example is when he refers to Kat's character as "honey" while trying to shrug her off during one of their early scenes together. Even James Dean himself couldn't have made that look cool, man.

I like Jack Black; I used to like Michael Cera

Nothing against his acting, but Cera's recent explosion went overboard from what I consider normal prima donna standards. But I digress.

Both are talented and generally pretty funny guys, plus that Cain and Abel clip that aired a while back was friggin' hilarious. But that poster is pretty blah. A little "Superbad" in there, but not much.

I Like Jack Black

I like Jack Black(Nacho Libre is one of my favorites) - this is just too goofy of a story from all I've read about it. No need to stoop for knuckle Head roles anymore Jack! yr a superstar!

Cera's Face

Michael Cera's face is the exact same expression he's doing on the Superbad poster. Hell, even looks like the poster for Superbad but just a tad bit lame.

Photoshopped to hell

I'm with "Dead as History" here. That's some bad P-shoppin'. Though the movie will probably be funny, as long as Michael Cera finally fucking acts. I love arrested development, but his characters are irritatingly boring and lifeless. All of them.

I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy this, but that poster sucks so bad. Their faces are incredibly photoshopped looking.

The movie doesn't look all that great, but I love Jack Black... we'll see.

A little too generic and no Judd Apatow/"that guy who brought you..." mention on the poster so... not the greatest.

I'm very curious about this movie, but this is a shitty-ass poster. We're talking shittier an ass than that of a man who gave up toilet paper a year ago.

What I do like is imagining a younger version of the George Michael character in "The Sixth Sense."

I still can't get over how ridiculously out of place Jack Black is in King Kong. Everytime I see a scene from that movie with him it makes me burst out in laughter.

Maybe one of the biggest casting blunders of all-time.

extra tidbit

Based on extra tidbit, we need a Sixth Sense parody with an adult Michael Cera playing the part of the little kid.
