You want underwhelming? These new Spider-Man posters have got you covered

It's been made pretty clear time and time again that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is trying to do everything it possibly can to separate itself from Raimi's Trilogy, which hopefully the explanation for the poster below that puts the Spidey's mechanical web-shooters front and center. Either that or other posters are going to drop soon with other bits of Spidey's body in mid-swing, and we'll be able to piece them all together into one giant picture of Spider-Man swinging over New York.

But that would still be going with the same theme that has run through just about all of the posters we've seen thus far for this movie, so it really wouldn't be that great.

Question: do you think that the giant Spider-Man logo made by the city that's been present in many of the posters (see above and below) serves any purpose in the actual movie, or is purely for advertising?

Amazing Spider-Man poster 10

I've said before that I'm excited for this movie, but I'm also starting to be afraid that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is going to shoot itself in the foot by trying too hard to be different (read the spoilery revelation of the biggest change being made here).  Being different isn't bad in and of itself, but when that's all you're about a lot can be sacrificed in the process. I've heard this concern observed by plenty of comic book and movie fans alike, and after months I'm finally beginning to agree with them.  I'm trying not to, I really am, but it's becoming increasingly difficult.

Either way, the truth will be revealed July 3rd.

"The UNTOLD story begins."

Iron Man better fly me through a Chitauri portal soon because my sides are about to explode.

I'm sorry but these are far better than the crappy posters released for The Avengers (which deserved MUCH better posters).

This isn't an attack on The Avengers itself (which is great) but the posters for The Amazing Spider-Man are indeed superior.

I love the subtle spidey-logo in the city although it might be a little *too* subtle especially when viewing this poster from afar. Just a few tweaks and the first poster would be perfect. I don't care for the second poster though.

How Creative

They're using the city buildings to create the logo... never seen that before.

This is Spiderman, we should be having some incredible imagery, even some hand drawn conceptual art, or something New and Amazing (as the movie says it is) not something I've seen before in say a Raimi film, or Nolan poster.

Sony Lacks creativity period!

I've often said this on here...but it's far too easy to hate for the sake of hating. The marketing material...including the trailers have done a pretty good job. It's not this movie's fault that there has already been a way overrated Spider-man trilogy (and I say that as a major Spider-man fan).

I also said this in a previous post...but what's with some of these posters...with regard to the web swinging? He's so high up...what's the web attached itself to????

I don't understand why Marvel properties tend to have such bland and shit posters when there's decades and decades of iconic imagery and covers and posters with these characters in.

The first poster isn't trying to point out the web shooters it's just another shot from Spiderman's point of view.

Underwhelming? Really?

The posters for The Amazing Spider-Man have been pretty good so far. And I'm not sure if you noticed, but there's a Spidey logo within those buildings. I think it's pretty cool and is way better than a lot of posters we've seen, even for the bigger movies of the summer.

These look fine. I mean jeez, Nolan does it for Batman with the gotham crumbles poster and everyone jizzed in their pants. But a similar concept, done even better imo, and it's suddenly underwhelming.
You people are gonna choke if you don't gag Nolan's junk out of your mouths soon.

You don't get it, people don't want to see more rip offs, and reboots. People want to see something new, and creative. yes we all liked it when Nolan did it for Batman, cause it was original, and creative. Nolan has a big fan base because he always keeps things interesting, and new for his fans.

Having another company use the same ideas for a different superhero is sheer LAZZZYNESS, and its for a fucking poster!! however if a lack of creativity stimulates you, then go for it. But no ones

Maybe Nolan's worked better because Batman wasn't hovering 1,000 fucking feet ABOVE the city.
