Zack Snyder shares first look at J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

In case you didn’t already know it, today is Batman Day. So, what does that mean? Well, I don’t really know specifically, but ultimately it just sounds like a good time for Batfans to get together and celebrate The Caped Crusader for being such an iconic badass since 1939 and still going strong. It’s also a day for those that are leading the charge in bringing The Dark Knight to us in his many forms to share some cool peeks at what’s next for the character and his universe.

Enter director Zack Snyder, who shared a peek at Bats from JUSTICE LEAGUE just the other day and now has another look to share, this time from one of Batman’s closest allies; Commissioner Gordon, as portrayed by J.K. Simmons in next year’s DCEU superhero throwdown. Although it’s just a peek, it’s pretty obvious that they’re following the look of Gordon in the comics pretty damn well, potentially the closest we’ve come yet. It’s been a gradually slow process to a faithful look from the ’66 series to the Burton/Schumacher films to the Nolan trilogy and now to what appears to be a pretty dead-on adaptation.

Take a look:

And, here’s Snyder getting his moment in front of the symbol:

Regardless of how you feel about how JUSTICE LEAGUE will turn out or whether you love/hate the direction of the DCEU, this is cool shit to see. I love the small peeks, image teases, etc. as we approach the final reveal of this or any project, so I’m happy to see more things like this from Snyder and co. as we get closer to release.

Oh, and here’s a little JUSTICE LEAGUE bonus in case you missed it. Actor Ray Fisher showing off his Cyborg physique in preparation for the role. Looks superhero ready to me!
