Zoe Saldana gives an update on the Avatar sequels

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Our favorite blue-skinned Neytiri, Zoe Saldana, who is going green this weekend as the assassin Gamora in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY has provided an update on James Cameron's AVATAR sequels. Up to this point there has been a little too much talk about these sequels for my liking; although, the last great news was that Sigourney Weaver was returning for all three AVATAR sequels. I’ll take a website launch or teaser poster at this point!

Speaking with the Daily Mirror, Saldana talked about the shooting schedule and location:

"James Cameron is still working on the final drafts of the script and then everyone in the cast will get the call. We're going to be shooting mainly in Los Angeles and that will make things easier for me since I live there. Because we're doing the sequels back-to-back and it's going to take at least eight or nine months or more to finish the (three) films."

AVATAR was released December 2009 and still remains the top grossing movie of all time with $2.787 billion at the worldwide box office. It’s a stunning showcase of restraint that these sequels haven’t already ALL been released at this point. What a money machine this is going to be when it starts rolling again. The sequels will also see the return of fellow cast members Sam Worthington, and Stephen Lang.

AVATAR 2 is scheduled for a December 2016 release, AVATAR 3 in December of 2017, and AVATAR 4 in 2018. You can see Zoe Saldana this weekend GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY or in your dreams when you’re lucky.
