Zombie's T-Rex lives?

Apr. 8, 2009by: Dave Davis

Rob Zombie had been teasing a gritty action flick called TYRANNOSAURUS REX as his next film (with groovy retro art like the pic below), and then suddenly took a detour to Haddonfield for another white-trash HALLOWEEN.

But the project is just percolating for the moment, according to STYD -- though REX apparently won't be at Michael Myer's current home with Dimension as was initially planned. Another unnamed studio is "very interested" in making it. According to STYD, T-REX "follows a washed-up prize boxer who gets involved in an underground fighting ring."

Zombie is currently cranking through H2 to have it ready for its release date of August 28th.

Rarrr

a good movie no matter what? i guess you didn't see 'swept away'. haha.

people arguing this heatedly over a guy having fun making horror films is hilarious, i must say. the beautiful thing about movies made by filmmakers you don't respect is... ready?... you don't have to watch them!

Ok, maybe I was a little harsh on Zombie. I still think he needs to learn a few technical aspects of film making before shooting another movie. It'll never happen, so I don't know why I even bother speaking out against him.

And yes, I did know that Ritchie never attended film school. However from what I heard from people on set, he studies film quite frequently. He's also one of those "natural" guys who can punch out a good movie no matter what.

I was touching myself the whole time...

you guys were talking here.

I don't think you should pull out measuring sticks on anything you've done on Crank 2 or Sherlock Holmes while bashing a guy who makes a ton of bread doing this.

Both going to film school and not going to have their merits.

I don't think I would sit around thinking about it too much if I were you guys.

Besides, have you seen some of the schlock that's in the theaters these days?

Not one person said anything in here about how, even if it was shitty, T

Not one person said anything in here about how, even if it was shitty, T Rex makes a lot more sense than Halloween, which is a re-boot to a remake of a classic horror series, that while interesting in is own right, didn't need to be done in the first place.

Dear Rob Zombie,

We don't respect you as a director. The last time I checked you were a high school drop out. You've never set foot in a reputable film school, and you look like a homeless man. Please go back to making average music and stop making terrible movies.

Thanks,

It should also be noted that Guy Ritchie never attended film school.

I honestly don't think I'm better than Rob Zombie or anyone. I just think he needs some professional training before he makes another movie.

Also, I didn't say anything about "stepping foot in a film school" in my first post. I called out Rob Zombie pure and simple, and you didn't like it.

I didn't call you out for disliking Zombie, JediteX. I called you out for 1) acting pompous about the fact that you've stepped foot in a film school and he hasn't, and 2) speaking on behalf of a country in saying that he shouldn't make films anymore when it's that very country that dished out enough money for a second Halloween to be greenlit. And, of course, people feel the need to come along and blast the argument altogether, despite knowing that arguing is extremely fun and much more

Sparkholiday and JediteX

Please stop fighting over such a trivial topic. I don't want to get in the middle of it, but I do actually agree with Jedite on this one. In order to be a professional in something you need to go to school.

I also work on movies, and I graduated from film school in 1998. I'm currently taking a small break from the industry, but the last movie that I worked on was Crank 2. After being in the industry for eleven years, I can say with confidence that film school is

After being in the industry for eleven years, I can say with confidence that film school is incredibly important if you want to be taken seriously on a professional production set. I'm honestly not trying to take sides here, but bashing film school is childish. Sure there are a handful of successful directors who didn't go to school, but there are also thousands of successful directors who DID attend film school.

And as for the Rob Zombie bashing, I'm personally a huge White Zombie fan. However, I also agree that Zombie can't direct to save his life. A few years in film school would really benefit Rob in the long run if he wants to keep making movies. So in my eyes Jedite completely wins this argument.

Don't forget that you started this feud by calling me out for disliking Rob Zombie. Is Rob Zombie really worth fighting for? Do you really dislike film school that much? Do you honestly think he's talented in anyway (outside of music)?

P.S. The last movie that I worked on was Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. And I didn't hold a boom during the entire production. It'll be a cold day in hell before I tell you what I actually do on set, but the boom guy makes half of what I make.

p.p.s you're

Oh, wow, "big budget movies." Guess you don't care to say what those movies are, most likely because they suck balls. But, good for you. I'm sure you're continuing to argue with me because you're overflowing with confidence in both your work and life, Mr. Fancypants. And, yeah, I do love my studio apartment. And, no, I don't work on big budget movies. But the difference is that I've worked on projects that I'm proud of, and will continue to do so. And you'll continue to never call the
