Sean Connery plays a middle aged man who, throughout a series of flashbacks, is discovered to be far more complicated a personality than is first presented. He keeps a lover much younger than him and secrets of a former love much deeper than an age difference. Sparse dialog but beautiful cinematography make the movie a thriller in the vein of John Houston classics.
