it ain't so, Joe... |

The Hollywood Reporter
A decade after winning an Oscar for his
role as Tommy in GOODFELLAS and plenty of "missed
opportunities" since, respected actor Joe Pesci is headed towards
the small screen...that's right, television! Pesci has signed to star
in a TV pilot in which he will have a recurring role playing a
mid-level mobster who acquires a comedy club as collateral for a debt.
Pesci's character will be unfamiliar with the comedy club scene, and
his on-the-job learning experiences will be mined for laughs. Director
David Steinberg and writer-producer Tim O'Donnell are also attached to
the show, and have just now begun pitching the project to prospective
network buyers.

IMDb
Directors Andy and Larry Wachowski are
promising that the fight scenes in the next two Matrix movies are set
to be more explosive and breathtaking than the sequences featured in
the first. They have called on the stunt team to choreograph even more
high kicking action, with fight co-ordinator Wu Ping already at the
drawing board. Ping is currently overseeing another film in Hong Kong
entitled BLACK MASK 2, but is already auditioning potential fight
doubles and actors for the martial art scenes.

Mr. Showbiz First,
Katie Holmes removes her top for the upcoming Sam Raimi film called
THE GIFT, and now actress Christina Ricci has joined the party, with
her recent announcement regarding her first nude scene for the
upcoming film PROZAC NATION. Christina also has a love scene with
Johnny Depp in director Sally Potter's new film entitled THE MAN WHO
CRIED, but playing a gypsy in the film, no nudity was required for
that one.
But in PROZAC NATION, director Erik
Skjoldbjaerg decided that a nude scene would show the character's
complete emotional nakedness. In the movie, Ricci plays a girl who is
clinically depressed and wants to kill herself every day. Naturally,
Ricci called for a closed set on the day of her disrobing.

Review: New Coen brothers flick |
September 7, 2000 |
| Source:
IGN Filmforce THE
BARBER MOVIE is a script written by the Coen brothers, currently
shooting in Los Angeles, with a probable release date sometime in
2001. The film stars Billy Bon Thornton, Frances McDormand, James
Gandolfini, among many others, in a homage to film noir. Stax recently
had the good fortune of reading the script, and said that it was
"chock full of memorable characters, hilarious dialogue, and it
maintained a consistent tone throughout despite some of the Coens' (at
times needless) absurd plot tangents." Read his entire review here

| Richard
Gere conceited? |
September 5, 2000 |
| Source:
IMDb According
to screenwriter Allison Burnett (a man, believe it or not), Richard
Gere "ruined" AUTUMN IN NEW YORK by chopping up his script
as he saw fit. Burnett said, "Richard Gere, like most movie
stars, is a narcissistic fool who destroys nearly every movie he
touches. He has script approval, which gave him the power to bring in
hack re-writers to dismantle Ryder's character and any of the scenes
she appeared in without him. He was afraid she'd steal the movie from
him. Movie stars are in control of the scripts. The lunatics have the
keys to the asylum." Yipes!

| Ryan
Phillippe ready to kick paparazzi ass! |
September 4, 2000 |
| Source:
IMDb
Actor Ryan Phillippe has been very open
about his intentions to protect his new-born daughter Ava (with wife
Reese Witherspoon) from the press, even if it means resorting to
"physical violence" to do so. The great-looking young actor,
soon to be seen in THE WAY OF THE GUN, said that he and the little
lady intend to leave Hollywood as soon as their child reached school
age because they want her to have a "normal childhood". The
actor went on to say, "She didn't ask to be born to two actors,
so the one thing I still cling to is that if anyone tries to invade my
child's privacy, I will put up a fight. If I were to ask the paparazzi
not to take a picture of her, and they do it anyway, I will take
physical action."
