Unbreakable Trilogy!

November 24, 2000

Source: Aint it Cool News

For those who HATED the ending to UNBREAKABLE, well, prepare for more, because that wasn't the last that we heard from any of those guys after all. And for anyone who loved the movie, much like myself, rejoice because M. Night Shyamalan et al have planned to make two sequels to this movie, according the Bruce Willis' chat over at Yahoo on November 6. Here's what he said when someone asked him whether or not he'd be working with M. Night again, "Unbreakable is the first part of a trilogy of films. I can't tell you about the others, but we're supposed to do two more. You'll understand how it lends itself to a continuing story." Read the entire chat here

Jason to direct

November 24, 2000

Source: New Line Cinema

It looks more and more like this is really gonna happen. The man who played Jason, the killer, in Friday the 13th Part 7/8/9/10, Kane Hodder, is apparently set to direct his own film starring every man's man actor, Kurt Russell. Here's what Film View had to say about it:

"The directorial debut is tentatively titled 'At Night It Wakes' and will star Kurt Russell. Russell's involvement is what got the film so hastily greenlighted for Hodder, although his priority seemed to be obtaining the
involvement of actor, Howard Hammick, who created a buzz around Hollywood with his performance in the horror film 'Party Crasher'. Hammick has apparently agreed to appear in the film though no contract has yet been signed. Hodder was ecstatic and a bit surprised that the elusive Howard Hammick was so interested in his project as it's been no secret that Hammick refused to appear in the upcoming 'Star Wars' episode when he was approached by George Lucas. Chloe Sevigny and Dee Wallace are also rumored to be taking part in the film. Hodder plans to begin principal photography in mid-February and will be shooting in and around Vancouver, Canada."

Russell and Costner direct together?
Source: E! Online

Here's something you don't hear about every day. Actors Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell have both been given permission to cut their own version of the film 3,000 MILES TO GRACELAND, a casino-heist comedy which they both co-star in as well. Producer Elie Samaha and Warner Bros studios have allowed each of the stars to screen the film to test audiences as well. After several screen tests and editing room debates, Costner's version won the battle beating Russell's version by an apparent "landslide". First time director Demian Lichtenstein had no problem allowing the two men to cut the movie that he shot.

Costner's cut was described as "pure action...[and] violence laced with humor" in the vein of PULP FICTION, while "Kurt's was more character-oriented" and focused on his character's romance. The film also co-stars Courteney Cox, Christian Slater, David Arquette, Kevin Pollack, Jon Lovitz and ex-football player Howie Long.

Zeta-Jones-Douglas?
Source: Reuters

It's official. Actor/producer Michael Douglas is the luckiest man in the world. Michael married gorgeous actress Catherine Zeta-Jones on Saturday night with plenty of stars there to watch. Jack Nicholson, Anthony Hopkins, Danny DeVito, James Woods, Goldie Hawn, Ellen Barkin, Brad Pitt and wife Jennifer Aniston were among the many to check out the wedding, as well as directors Steven Spielberg and Oliver Stone. The ceremony is rumored to have cost close to $1.7 million. And in a pretty cool gesture, the couple asked guests to donate money, in lieu of presents, to the Dylan Douglas Foundation, a charitable trust for their new son that Douglas' spokesman said the boy will not be able to keep when he comes of age, but must give away. Michael is 56, Catherine is 31. They share the same birthday, September 25, and already have one son together, Dylan Michael.

Willem Dafoe is the Green Goblin
Source: SpidermanHype

After months of speculation and several other candidates being considered for the role, including John Malkovich and Nicolas Cage, underrated actor Willem Dafoe has been chosen to head up the "bad guy" division in Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN movie. As you've surely heard by now, actor Tobey Maguire has been chosen to play the webslinger himself.

Austin Powers 3
Source: Dark Horizons

Director Jay Roach is on a roll and he's not about to slow down. After two major successes in the AUSTIN POWERS flicks, Jay went on to direct another major Hollywood comedy, MEET THE PARENTS and is now looking to follow up both of his popular franchises with sequels. But wait, now comes word that before production begins on MEET THE FOCKERS, AUSTIN POWERS 3 is being discussed as a prequel. The details are sketchy at this point, but here's what Jay had to say about it: "We have a concept based on a prequel, where Dr. Evil and Austin are together in the 1950s as young men in some academy. Of course, something goes wrong, Dr. Evil goes off to some zone and Austin launches the British revolution in American music and color, just to annoy Dr. Evil." Jay is also hoping that Sean Connery will make an appearance in the third film.
