Your 1st real glimpse at Anakin

December 8, 2000

Source: Coming Attractions

Episode 2 producer Rick McCallum recently went to a conference in Japan and showed the attendees some pretty interesting pictures, including a first look at Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Unfortunately you will
never ever be able to see them. Well...since you asked so nicely, check out the Official Star Wars website  to see some pictures of Anakin scopin' out the hotties in a Coruscant nightclub, a gray (?) C-3PO and R2D2 on Tatooine and Owen Lars just kind of hanging out, or click on the pic below:

Damon talks "Bourne Identity"

December 8, 2000

Source: Variety and Movie Headlines

Now here's a movie I can't wait to see. You've got Doug Liman who has made two terrific movies (GO, SWINGERS), Franka Potente (RUN LOLA RUN) in one of her first American films (the other being BLOW), it's based on the kick ass book by Robert Ludlum, and well...Matt Damon.  OK, he doesn't exactly instill me with a lot of confidence, but the following tidbit is making me feel just a little bit better.  Damon recently spoke with Variety regarding his part in the soon to be released ALL THE PRETTY HORSES.  In the interview he was asked about BOURNE and said that he has been training with specialists for over three months in martial arts, boxing, and weapons handling. In the film, Damon plays Jason Bourne, a man who washes ashore off the Mediterranean Sea, suffering from various bullet wounds and a bad case of amnesia.

Lara Croft: Alive and Well

December 8, 2000

Source: CHUD

Those wacky kids at CHUD have beat Friday's teaser and posted the first clear image of Angelina Jolie all decked out in her Lara Croft costume. She's got a pretty bitching gun in her hands too. Click on the pic below and check out what you'll be masturbating to next summer:

Sandler's Next..

December 8, 2000

Source: Variety

Adam Sandler is set to re-team with LITTLE NICKY director Steven Brill (why?) for his next movie DEEDS. The script (originally written by hilarious SNL head writer Tim Herlihy) is loosely based on the 1936 Frank Capra movie MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN and Variety reports the plot "concerns a small-town poet who inherits a small fortune, moves to New York City and sets Gotham society agog with his unsparing honesty."  Brill looks to not only direct but also re-write the Herlihy script. In related news, Thursday, December 07, 2000 marked the first time the word "agog" was used since its inception in 1559 France.

What about "Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas"?

December 8, 2000

Source: Aint it Cool News

The National Board of Review releases their top 10 film list every year and it's about that time again. Their list of the best films of the year 2000 is as follows:

1. QUILLS
2. TRAFFIC
3. CROUPIER
4. YOU CAN COUNT ON ME
5. BILLY ELLIOT
6. BEFORE NIGHT FALLS
7. GLADIATOR
8. WONDER BOYS
9. SUNSHINE
10. DANCER IN THE DARK

Now before you start going crazy wondering where ALMOST FAMOUS or ERIN BROCKOVICH is, check out this statistic. In the past two years, half of the movies nominated for Best Picture Academy Awards weren't on the Board of Review's top ten list. So keep that in mind when you're fuming about how your favorite flick got snubbed.

Stewart joins "Smoochie"

December 8, 2000

Source: Variety

A great cast is getting even greater with news that Daily Show host Jon Stewart is hopping on board Danny DeVito's DEATH TO SMOOCHIE. SMOOCHIE revolves around a Barney-like kids TV show host named Rainbow Randolph (Robin Williams) who is fired by a network executive (Stewart) and replaced with a blue rhino named Smoochie (Ed Norton). Jealous Randolph then begins to plot the murder of his rival.  Catherine Keener and DeVito are also signed on for roles in the flick. No word yet on who will temporarily replace Stewart's spot at the Daily Show anchor desk.

Unbreakable Trilogy Broken?

December 6, 2000

Source: Film Force and Total Film

Right around the time that UNBREAKABLE hit theaters, reports began to come out that stated the movie was the first part of a planned trilogy. Once the smoke cleared, it became clear it wasn't necessarily a planned trilogy, but
Bruce Willis had mentioned the prospect in an online chat and noted that both he and Samuel Jackson were up for returning. Unfortunately, M. Night Shymalan spoke with Total Film and stated, "Whether there ever is another
one is not really on my mind. I don't have a story, I'm not thinking about it, and if I ever made one, it would be for the right reasons." Doesn't really bode well for the future adventures of Captain Raincoat and Mr. Glass.

Lara Croft Online (finally!)

December 6, 2000

Source: Cinescape

I'm still in disbelief they kept in under wraps for so long. But this Friday over at the TOMB RAIDER website, at
11 a.m. ET and 8 a.m. PT, the teaser trailer will be available for download. According to some spies who claimed to have seen it, it sucks as bad as the first CHARLIE'S ANGELS trailer (that's pretty bad.) But, never-the-less it
will be your first real glimpse (besides those grainy tabloid shots) of Angelina Jolie decked out in her TOMB RAIDER gear. The clip will be available in RealVideo, QuickTime, and Windows Media formats.

Evolution Poster

December 6, 2000

Source: CountingDown

Counting Down has placed the poster for the upcoming David Duchovny/ Julianne Moore/ Ivan Reitman/ sci-fi/ comedy (boy, that was a lot of forward slashes) up on their website. Nothing really too exciting, really, just a teaser image and the film's tagline.

GEN13 Disney-fied?

December 6, 2000

Source: Comics2film and Mothership

Our old friends at Disney have apparently re-signed their contract with the Devil this past month. It seems they own the rights to a live-action movie based on the comic book Gen13 and have decided to tinker with the concept
before moving ahead with pre-production. Courtney Solomon, who just directed Dungeons & Dragons and is slated to produce this film, spoke with Mothership.com and said that Disney President Nina Jacobsen has decided to
change the characters from sexy twenty-somethings to...get this...seventh graders. They have also renamed the movie accordingly to (duh) SEVENTH GRADERS. The sex appeal and violence has also been toned down to correspond with the Disney image. When reached for comment, Satan was unavailable.

JP3 Webcast Review

December 6, 2000

Source: InGen.Net

In case you missed the JURASSIC PARK webcast on Monday (I know I did), pictures of the brand spanking new Spinosaurus (which by the way, is the dino profile pictured in the new logo), are up over at the InGen website.
Also included are excerpts from Stan Winston's narrative including his revelation that the T-Rex model weighs about 9 tons and the Spinosaur weighs about 12 tons. He briefly alluded to the blood on the Spino's teeth and
head saying only "this guy (Spinosaur) is going to meet that guy (T-Rex)."

John Woo directing Superman?

December 5, 2000

Source: Aint it Cool News and Comics2film

Well, could be.  Seems the director with a flair for major ass kicking stunts is most definitely interested in taking on the latest Superman flick, which will revolve around Supes fighting the one and only Lobo.  The treatment, written by Keith Giffen (Lobo's creator), revolves around Lobo being sent to Metropolis with the daunting task of killing Superman.  Will this be the treatment used for the movie?  Will John Woo even come close to this movie??  I don't know, but there will most likely be doves flying all around as they do battle.

Angel is Evil?

December 5, 2000

Source: Aint it Cool News

AICN is reporting (so take this for what you will) that David Boreanaz formerly of TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and currently of TV's Angel, is in serious consideration for the male lead in the forthcoming RESIDENT EVIL movie. Super Dave would join Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriquez (GIRLFIGHT) for Paul Anderson's (not MAGNOLIA Paul Thomas Anderson but SOLDIER Paul Anderson) version of the popular video game. Look for the movie to be in theaters next Halloween.

December 5, 2000

While the teaser for the upcoming LORD OF THE RINGS set internet download records everywhere, the trailer is set to wow audiences in theaters this coming Friday. Look for the full trailer to be attached to New Line's release of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS.

Coming Attractions snagged some pretty cool shots from the new ROLLERBALL movie courtesy of Bazaar magazine. Check out Rebecca Romjin-Stamos who, in her costume, looks more like Angelina Jolie at the Academy Awards. Check them out, if you dare.

December 4, 2000

Source: Film Force

When the JURASSIC PARK/LOST WORLD DVDs came out way back when, consumers were promised a DVD-ROM hotlink to the set of JURASSIC PARK 3.  So far we have received nothing.  That is all going to change at 8:00pm ET on Monday, December the 4th (that's tonite, people). Stan Winston will host a 30-minute tour that will include a sneak peek at the newest dino, the Spinosaurus. Following the tour at 8:30pm will be an AOL chat with Stan the Man himself. These events will only be accessible with your JURASSIC PARK or LOST WORLD DVD through www.jurassicpark.com

Rock in Black Sheep?

December 4, 2000

Source: Variety

Chris Rock will be joining fellow former SNL castmate David Spade for a sequel to the 1996 laffer, BLACK SHEEP.  Rock will be taking over the role vacated by the deceased Chris Farley. Just kidding...! Actually, this BLACK SHEEP is to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and revolves around a "street-wise" man who must take over the identity of his identical secret agent brother when he is killed.  There is no director attached as of yet, but producers are looking at a March, 2001 start.
