Mummy 4? Please no. Aug. 7, 2008
Source: MTV
by: Mike Sampson

THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR made something like $40 million its opening weekend. That'd be enough to open in first place on most weekends but THE DARK KNIGHT was still steamrolling the competition. But still $40 million is more than THE MUMMY 3 should have made in its entire run. It's that bad. And I, as well as all of us here at JoBlo, love Roger Ebert but Rog, three stars? It's stuff like that that's going to get us a fourth MUMMY movie. And wouldn't you know it, director Rob Cohen is already talking about it. He told MTV, "We now have it clear that the MUMMY franchise can travel...we know that if we want to go to Mexico or we want to go to Peru, we can." This is based on comments by stars Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello that the film's next stop is either the Amazon or Peru. How about nowhere? How about the MUMMY's next stop is on a dusty shelf in some Hollywood storage bin? For lots more on what Cohen imagines could be in a fourth MUMMY movie (including lots of spoilers on what happens at the end of MUMMY 3), check out the MTV Movies Blog.

The only way a 4th Mummy can be good is if Rob Cohen goes away and Stephen Sommers returns in the director's chair.

And get rid of Maria Bello and convince Rachel Weisz to come back. If Weisz can not come back then kill off Evie.

But since it sounds like Cohen and Bello are to return then way to go to ruin what started out as a very entertaining franchise.

THE MUMMY IV
I haven't had a chance (or $) to see TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR but I can say that I've enjoyed the first two MUMMY films and if theirs already talk of a fourth then I think they should set it up in MEXICO, there are allot of ancient pyramids and mummy's over there so that would be a good place to shoot the fourth one, but until I see MUMMY 3 I'll decide if I'm up for a fourth one.

SERIOUSLY!
How about scrapping all this CG action Mummy crap and making a seriously scary Mummy movie. Mummy 3 doesn't even have a mummy in it.

Get rid of Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello. OK, get rid of the entire cast!

Make it scary with practical effects!!

I loved the first one, 2nd was disappointing but still enjoyable, I'll probably check out 3 on dvd, but from what i heard 3 was the nail in the coffin for this franchise.

Anyway, i heard similar rumors for pirates 4 and jurassic park 4 after the 3rd movies came out, so i really don't take any of this seriously.

As for Mummy 4... I wasn't a fan of Mummy 2 so I guess time will tell.

The Mummy: Tomb of Evita Peron

It could be a musical/action adventure...

Madonna could resurrect her acting career and maybe Antonio Banderas can play the reincarnated version of his character

If they're going to continue to make this franchise, at least make it interesting. Here's my suggestion for the next installment:

The Mummy 4: The Son of God.

The title alone conjures up what could be some of the greatest action sequences in cinematic history. It reaches so many markets. The religious sect and the morons that like actually like this crap.

i wasnt sure there was cause to have a first mummy movie let alone a possible third sequel

shit is bad when the spinoff(scorpion king) is the best part of the whole thing

BOO HOO, I WANT MY MUMMY...
if you went into this with the required "forgive and believe" mantra, this popcorn piece of pure fluff entertainment would have been just fine. you didnt expect genius, did you?

its not the 007/batman "grittier, darker, more adult" version of the mummy. its kiddie time. i wish they would film the pg version, along with a "hard-r" rated version, then i could go to an adult movie as an adult, and not be bothered once by you teens and 20-somethings with your talking, and texting during the flick.

i still see your annoying blue screen from 20 rows down you A D D fucks...
